• Design power distribution systems for industrial plants and manufacturing environments. These projects include but are not limited to power distribution, industrial automation, robotics, and manufacturing process projects.
• Develop load flow models, single-line and schematic diagrams using tools such as AutoCAD Electrical & SKM PowerTools.
• Perform short circuit, arc flash, and protective device coordination studies in compliance with IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
• Design grounding & bonding systems per IEEE 80 and NEC Article 250, ensuring safety in fault scenarios.
• Calculate fault currents, voltage drop, and feeder/bus ampacity under continuous and transient load conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Programming, testing and trouble-shooting traffic signal control equipment in the shop and in the field.
2. Understands and translates various codes such as MUTCD, NEMA and UL. Communicates how the code applies to the company's products and processes.
3. Generates electrical wiring diagrams from stated plans and specs, standard templates or past projects for new and existing traffic, lighting and traffic related control cabinets. Integrates related traffic, networking and lighting technology into new and existing systems.
4. Generates mechanical drawings for panels, cables, cabinets and cabinet layouts or provide mechanical designers information to complete the required design.
5. Ensures that all drawings conform to standard industry & MoboTrex practices.
6. Generates and verifies bills of material (BoM) for assemblies and components.
7. Generates cost estimates, including proposed design solution, per customer requirements or per sales requests.
8. Generates assembly or installation instructions for projects.
9. Generates test procedures to verify component or system function when the design is new, untested or to verify operation
10. Provides telephone technical support as needed.
11. Utilizes CAD System for all drawings, as well as drawing/information archiving process. Provide Suggestions for improvement of document format, content, archiving and retrieval
12. Analyzes technology trends and makes recommendations for changes or improvements in our product or offerings.
13. Monitors design system technology and recommends changes when appropriate.
14. Benchmarks other industries and implements best practices.
15. Documents the design process from customer plans and specifications to Design Release.
16. Document customer specific preferences in a manner accessible and editable by others.
17. Maintains key performance metrics including: Lead time, On-time Delivery, Quality Reporting.
18. Develops actions plans to address issues and drive continuous improvement actions.
19. Participate/Present at MoboTrex User Group events. Present solutions to customer to clarify proposals or consider new or alternative solutions.
Requirements
Qualifications:
B.S. Electrical Engineering or A.S. Electronics Engineering Technology or related degree with an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Must possess International Municipal Signal Association (I.M.S.A.) Level II certification
Knowledge of how to translate traffic system requirements into standard electrical design
Knowledge of traffic products, controllers, software and traffic designs preferred
Experience with MUTCD specifications
Experience with NEMA Traffic standard - ATC and Caltrans experience a plus
Field Service experience in traffic systems required
System integration experience a plus. Experience integrating multiple products from internal & external suppliers into a single operating system
Knowledge and extensive use of Auto CAD preferred
Ability to work under short deadlines as manage multiple/changing priorities
Able to use electrical and electronic test equipment, hand tools, and power tools
Valid driver license with clean driving record
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit talk or hear and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. Develop and manage various capital projects from conception to completion.
Provide 24/7 maintenance response coverage for any Power Issues related to the operation of the Facility.

Job DescriptionSalary:
In this role you will play a critical role in designing, bidding, overseeing and executing electrical engineering projects. You will support Project Engineers and Electricians by assisting with the development of machine control concepts, project estimates, technical proposal content, and presentation of project concepts, as well as designing solutions that will delight our clients. You will collaborate with internal and external customers to review and update technical objectives throughout the project life cycle and participate in system installations as needed.
Essential Functions of Position
Design and specify medium-voltage (5kV -35kV) and low voltage (120V-480V, 600V) electrical distribution systems, including (but not limited to): unit substation, switchgear, MCCs, panelboards, and bus duct systems; transformer specifications; and feeder sizing based on calculated demand loads, voltage drop analysis, and coordination studies.
Design power distribution systems for industrial plants and manufacturing environments. These projects include but are not limited to power distribution, industrial automation, robotics, and manufacturing process projects.
Develop load flow models, single-line and schematic diagrams using tools such as AutoCAD Electrical & SKM PowerTools.
Perform short circuit, arc flash, and protective device coordination studies in compliance with IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
Design grounding & bonding systems per IEEE 80 and NEC Article 250, ensuring safety in fault scenarios.
Calculate fault currents, voltage drop, and feeder/bus ampacity under continuous and transient load conditions.
Provide detailed conduit & cable schedules, voltage drop calculations, and feeder sizing (per NEC 310, 250, 430, & 450).
Lead power system integration with industrial control systems including PLC panels, VFDs, and automation networks. This could include developing and implementing control system applications and code for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and other control devices.
Ensure compliance of codes & designs per current editions of NEC (NFPA 70), IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and local jurisdictional requirements.
Interface, as necessary, with utility companies for service entrance coordination, interconnection requirements, and metering strategy.
Assist with construction support (i.e. RFI responses, field eng. changes, equip submittal reviews, commissioning, etc.).
Work on power system commissioning plans, quality assessments & functional testing of switchgear and relay settings
Participate in project planning by creating schedules & milestones, monitoring design progress & identifying scope changes.
Collaborate with clients and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the reliability and safety of the design.
Mentor and advise junior engineers to foster their professional development.
Encourage a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
Establish and enforce quality control processes to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical system designs.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and as-built drawings.
Drive process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of systems and processes.
Participate in continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
Represent and promotes the company in a positive and constructive manner.

Job Qualifications
Proven experience in power system distribution design as an electrical engineer including the design and implementation of these systems in industrial plants and/or manufacturing environments.
Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI development, and knowledge of control hardware.
Proficiency in software tools and technologies (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SKM PowerTools, PLC, HMI, & vendor programming software).
Strong working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and UL standards applicable to industrial power systems.
Familiarity of all OSHA requirements in relation to construction and company safety policies.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong project management skills, with a successful track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team and independently.
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize.
Able to work outside the traditional work schedule which includes nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Must be able to travel to job locations that may require overnight stays.

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited university, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Must be willing to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
3-8 years of experience in an electrical engineering role, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities preferred.
Experience with Arc Flash Risk Analysis preferred.
