This job is no cake walk you must be smart, tough, quick-thinking, and cool under pressure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As an EOD Tech, youll receive extensive training to perform missions neutralizing explosive weapons in almost every environment. Your duties may require you to:
Detonate and demolish hazardous munitions, pyrotechnics, and outdated explosives.
Neutralize various ordnance, including sea mines, torpedoes or depth charges.
Work with cutting-edge technology to remotely disable unsafe ordnance.
Perform parachute or helicopter insertion operations.
Support law enforcement agencies.
Clear waterways of mines in support of our ships and submarines.
Lend your skills and support to other military units or offices, such as the U.S. Secret Service or the U.S. Department of State.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Your missions will take you to every corner of the world. One assignment may have you parachuting from 17,000 feet into enemy territory, while the next may deliver you stealthily to a foreign nation via an 11-foot RHIB boat. It all depends on which unit youre supporting and the type of mission to be completed. Though there will be administrative work, the majority of your time will be spent out from behind a desk and in the field.
TRAINING AND ADVANCEMENT
Upon completion of the initial 10-week training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (known as Boot Camp), youll begin a specialized training program to prepare you for your career as an EOD Tech.
EOD Preparatory Course(4 weeks) The EOD training pipeline starts with training in Great Lakes, IL, where candidates work on swim strokes development, long-range swims and physical conditioning. Candidates receive daily human performance coaching on mental resiliency, strength training form, running, swimming, calisthenics as well as proper rest, recovery and nutrition. Classroom instruction includes introductions to small boat operations, professional military education, and risk management.
EOD Assessment and Selection (4 weeks) After Prep, candidates will be challenged in a grueling training environment.
EOD Assessment and Selection Course (4 weeks) After Prep, candidates will be challenged in a grueling training environment in which they are constantly assessed on their comfort in the water, physical fitness, academic ability, professionalism, and peer rankings. Classroom instruction includes topics such as risk management, dive physics, diving medicine, small boat navigation, and navy maintenance. Daily physical training and assessments are centered around five advanced aquatic adaptability skills, ruck runs, distance swims, and the human performance test. At the end of the course, candidates will participate in a formal selection board where instructors will select the best qualified and most likely to successfully complete advanced training to graduate and proceed to diver training.
Diver Training(9 weeks) Next comes dive school at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) in Panama City, FL. Training covers basic concepts of scuba diving as well as dive physics, physiology and basic dive medicine. Candidates also learn about equipment such as the MK16 and MK25 underwater rebreather.
EOD School(56 weeks) After successfully completing dive school, candidates transfer to Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This training comes in several sections, each section building upon the skills learned from previous areas of training. Candidates will train in demolition operations, rendering safe bombs, missiles, landmines, defusing Improvise Explosive Devices (IEDs), protecting and detecting against Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) weapons and mastering skills needed to defeat underwater ordnance such as sea mines and torpedoes.
Basic Parachute Training(3 weeks) After completing basic EOD school, graduates attend Basic Airborne Training (jump school) at Fort Benning, GA, where they qualify as basic parachutists.
EOD Tactical Training(3 weeks) The final phase of training is in San Diego, CA. It teaches helicopter insertion (fast-rope, rappel, cast and special patrol insertion, and extraction rigging), small arms/weapons training, small unit tactics (weapons, self-defense, land navigation and patrolling) and tactical communications (satellite and high frequency).
Upon successful completion of the EOD training pipeline, graduates are assigned to EOD Mobile Units where they gain advanced on-the-job training and experience as members of EOD Platoons..

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
Members of the Navy Special Operations community have any number of unique opportunities to advance their education. Your role as a Patient Support Specialist
The Patient Support Specialist (PSS) at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics plays a crucial role in delivering quality care to patients of all ages under the supervision of the Registered/Charge Nurse. This multifaceted position involves assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing essential nursing care within the professional scope of practice. As the first point of contact for hospital patients, the PSS greets, receives, and ensures their needs are met while guiding visitors and vendors effectively.
Additionally, the PSS handles incoming calls, routing them to the appropriate Patient Care Unit or emergency room as necessary. This role also encompasses various clerical tasks related to the admission and registration process of inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients, as well as maintaining organized records and performing cleaning duties to uphold a safe and welcoming environment in patient care areas.
What you need to be successful
To excel as a Patient Support Specialist at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics, candidates must possess a range of essential skills and qualifications. A current Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate, LPN License, or EMT License is required, alongside maintaining all relevant certifications, including BLS certification. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to read, write, and perform basic math, along with a foundational clinical knowledge base that enables them to deliver quality care effectively.
Strong customer service skills, complemented by organizational and team-building abilities, are crucial for collaborating with colleagues and ensuring seamless interdepartmental communication. Familiarity with medical terminology enhances the PSS's capability to respond appropriately to patient needs. While less than a high school diploma is acceptable, one to two years of healthcare experience is preferred, fostering a solid understanding of the healthcare environment and the nuances involved in patient support.

As a Maintenance Technician at MercyOne, you will be responsible for performing routine building and grounds maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in the following areas: (carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, emergency generator, boilers, etc). Manages communications with contractors and vendors. Performs other tasks as assigned.
* Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and making repairs as needed. Orders parts, making notes, maintaining required documents. Performs minor repairs of functional systems. Performs and documents required daily, weekly, monthly and yearly departmental PM's. Assesses safety at all times and outsourcing to contractors when necessary.
* Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not to be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (ex: wall switches and outlets; incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes; ballast; sockets; fuses; minor appliances, cords, etc) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools. Assesses safety at all times and outsourcing to contractors when necessary.
* Completes minor plumbing maintenance (ex: replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.) Assesses safety at all times and outsourcing to contractors when necessary.
* Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (ex: preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.). Assesses safety at all times and outsourcing to contractors when necessary.
* Performs inspection, repairs, operation, and PM's on Boiler systems. Assesses safety at all times and outsourcing to contractors when necessary.

Using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks. Assesses safety at all times and outsourcing to contractors when necessary.
* Coordinates with outside contractors for inspections, repairs, and construction jobs. Obtains and compares quotes, prepares SBAR's, obtains PO's, and schedules work.
* Responsible for snow removal and cleaning of parking lots, sidewalks, grounds and other work areas. Including the coordination with outside vendors or entities as necessary. Assesses and ensuring the safety of employees, patients, and visitors.
* Monitors and records required information for infection control. For both internal performed maintenance jobs and contracted work. Maintains department records for Quality Assurance initiatives of the hospital. Schedules inspections and repairs of Life Safety Code systems (fire alarm, sprinkler system, fire extinguishing systems)
* Assists with equipment assembly, troubleshooting, and repairs of medical and non-medical equipment. Escalating to Support Service Director as needed.
* Interfaces with work order system to monitor, plan, and execute repairs and requests.
* Must be able to work flexible hours including on-call maintenance hours.
* Day-time EMS driver duties as assigned by EMS Manager.
Schedule:

* Valid Driver's License
* Ability to create an environment for the patient/patient families through personal contact in the waiting area and/or patient rooms.
