Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Include the following (other duties may be assigned): Design and create solid models and drawings that allow the production of complex components required for the production of company products. Design activities include component & assembly design of both new and existing products; fixtures for machining and assembly; and specification of required textures and surface coatings, including those that are applied through outside operations. Develop new product components using alternate materials and secondary operations to allow the attainment of prescribed physical properties and application characteristics. Identifies and develops method/source for obtaining the alternate material or secondary operation. Understands and utilize sound project management skills to produce prototypes, complete initial testing, and finalize design allowing the component to be manufactured. Creates a complete set of documentation allowing the creation of a costed Bill of Materials. Documentation typically includes: A parts list, with appropriate part numbers assigned to allow indication of components, component parts and assemblies as they move through the manufacturing process Drawings and associated PDF files that show critical dimensions and tolerances. Dimensions and tolerances are defined and created using generally accepted principles such as GDT. All drawings necessary for production operations. All production drawings such as machining and assembly drawings are appropriately configured for the operation that will use them.
