We are seeking a dedicated lab technician to join an industrial paint manufacturing company in Columbus. This position involves coordinating the collection of random samples from production batches and conducting a variety of complex testing processes to measure the physical characteristics of products. This long-term opportunity operates on the 3rd shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities + Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with a high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements. + Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure the product's physical or chemical characteristics, including viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, and color characteristics. + Conduct tests on materials from suppliers and production batches. + Perform standard testing procedures, including preparation of materials, with attention to detail and high quality. + Follow daily work plans for Lab Work Requests or project plans. + Accurately document work in lab notebooks, either physical or electronic. + Recognize roadblocks or anomalies and resolve them or communicate concerns with a chemist in a timely manner. + Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labeled. + Correctly label and mail samples. + Maintain a clean and organized work environment. + Tint batches without assistance and calculate resin composites. + Maintain quality control records using a web-based computer system and prepare records for submission. + Operate lab equipment for tests such as viscosity, pH, weight per gallon, and percent solids. + Perform draw downs, use ovens, and maintain and perform calibrations on machines. The facility has strong chemical and paint odors; candidates should not be sensitive to these conditions. The lab is large, with at least five people per shift at all times. The position operates on the 3rd shift, Monday to Friday from 10 PM to 6:30 AM, with initial training on the 1st shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, lasting approximately three weeks. This is an Engineering Test Technician role is in the Product Integrity department of the Power Management business unit. The Product Integrity team setups and executes test cases to validation new AC Power products. Products may have a regional scope or a global scope. The Engineering Test Technician will setup the unit under test and the instrumentation as per the test plan. They will operate the unit under test and collect data as per the individual test cases. While executing the test cases, the technician will make observations and keep notes regarding the unit under test's performance. All of the data collected and the technician's notes are entered into the test results by the technician.
