Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, repair and complete preventative maintenance on Ground Service Equipment (both motorized and non-motorized)
Work will include diagnostic testing and repair of gas engines, transmissions, suspension and brake systems
Troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines, heavy industrial equipment, including large aircraft air conditioners, air start and ground electrical power units
Ground Service Equipment Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority
Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract
New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment
There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues which are set by the Local Lodge
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
24 months of experience with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of gas and diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and motorized equipment
Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
Must possess a valid state issued driver's license
Ability to work any shift assigned (nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed) within 24/7 operation
Ability to climb and work from ladders, and/or walk for extended periods
Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
Ability to work in an environment with exposure to high noise levels
Moderate lifting
Computer experience for input and retrieval of data

Certificate of completion from an accredited automotive school
Experience with motorized equipment supporting airport ground operations
The sign-on bonus is exclusively for external candidates, internal applicants are not eligible to receive the sign-on incentive.
The starting rate for this role is $40.48.
This is also a bonus eligible position (i.e. profit sharing).

Technical Functions

The successful candidate will be responsible for construction, repairs, and troubleshooting of highly automated and advanced manufacturing equipment necessary to produce our signature product. This individual will be responsible for learning and understanding specific machine build requirements, troubleshooting new components, and be able to use some power-tools safely and effectively to create the final product. This position requires mechanical aptitude, technical ability, the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, machine troubleshooting, proficiency with hand/power tools, proficiency with basic inspection equipment, problem-solving skills, and the willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
·Follow all policies and procedures including safety and quality standards.
·Read and understand a prints/drawings and be capable of constructing assemblies accordingly.
·Proficient in utilization of power tools including saws, drills, grinders, polishers, etc.
·Perform equipment setup, operation, testing, and repair to meet all standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. These tasks must be completed under minimal supervision.
·Build, diagnose, and repair electromechanical systems on equipment.
·Executes equipment and safety inspections, and generates emergency, corrective, and/or preventative work orders as needed.
·Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and capable of working independently with minimal instruction.
·Perform various equipment preventive maintenance tasks (i.E., cleaning, inspection, and lubrication) while working with small, machined parts.
·Thoroughly document maintenance activity using the maintenance database, adequately communicate issues to appropriate employees in a timely manner(e.G., other maintenance techs, operators, engineers, supervisors, group message boards, etc.)
·Troubleshoot and identify potential solutions for mechanical errors, safety issues, or general operating inefficiencies with assembly production processes.
·Utilize and update basic databases to reflect corrective actions taken and materials consumed and analyze data to be able to root cause issues.
·Direct hands-on involvement in installation, start-up, qualification, and debugging of new automation, including basic wiring and electrical troubleshooting.
·Ensure compliance with safety rules, quality policies, and employee guidelines.
·This is a hands-on role, requiring the candidate to take on project work assigned as an individual contributor, or as a participant on cross functional teams, as well as being able to utilize tools to inspect, repair, assemble, and maintain equipment.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
·High School Diploma or equivalent experience
·At least 1-3 years of experience working with hand tools on manufacturing equipment, construction, HVAC, Automotive, etc. Executing repair and maintenance activities.
·Basic computer skills and use of MS Office applications.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:
·Precise component assembly
·Experience working on and debugging automated equipment.
·Experience working with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
