Under the day to day direction of the on-duty nurse practitioner/physician assistant, the general purpose of the patient care technician (PCT) position is to maximize patient flow through the clinic while providing a stellar patient experience. Responsible for performing all the appropriate administrative tasks, including electronic health record (EHR) documentation, in accordance with company policy. BHMG General Surgery and Urology The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for the examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the provider. * JOB SUMMARY * The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible to assist the health care professional by performing various care activities and related nonclinical services. Provides assistance to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the delivery of patient care including caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient and family unit in a professional, courteous, supportive manner, under the general supervision of the Patient Care Manager or his/her designee. * DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Assists the RN/LPN with non-nursing tasks such as but not limited to crash cart checks, quality control checks, retrieving equipment/supplies, keeping the department clean and stocking of supplies. * Overall performance of below indicated essential job duties: * Assists the RN/LPN with routine patient care and treatment of patients as delegated by the RN/LPN or designee and under the direct supervision of the RN/LPN including, but not limited to vital signs, Intake Output, pain level assessment, administering enemas, applying hot/cold packs, glucoscans, height and weight, transporting, ambulating, answering call lights, cleaning equipment, sitting 1:1's, receiving patients in room, assisting in pre/post-operative care, assisting in admission/discharge activities and assisting in treatments. * Recognizes and practices within scope of certification and competency levels and relays any questions, concerns or situations requiring follow-up or attention to the supervising RN/LPN and seeks assistance when necessary. * Effectively communicates pertinent information in shift-to-shift and transfer reports and documents items in EPIC as indicated. * EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS * Minimum requirement: * High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved State Registered Nursing Assistant Program such as (SRNA), (STNA), (CNA) or other state. * Holds current certification as a State Registered Nursing Assistant (SRNA) in the State of Kentucky. * Ohio STNA, WV CNA and other State Registered Nursing Assistant/Aide Certifications are accepted if transferred to KY SRNA prior to hire date. * Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. * Achieves and maintains Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within 90 days of start. * Preferred qualifications: * NA * WORKING ENVIRONMENT * Constantly works near moving mechanical parts * Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection. * Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals * Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation * The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. * PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting). * Frequently required to walk and move about. * Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment. * Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices. * Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds. * Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. * Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds. * Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. * Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.

Job Requirements The Acute Patient Care Technician must demonstrate familiarity with dialysis procedures and the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to assume the responsibility of caring for, or supporting the care of, the dialysis patient in the acute or post-acute care setting. This position exercises knowledge of patient rights and ensures an atmosphere that allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all patients in a safe, secure environment. The position works under the supervision of a physician or registered nurse experienced or trained in dialysis treatment. Cooperates and works together with all co-workers to plan and complete job duties with applicable supervisory direction, including exercising job-appropriate judgment. Work Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent required, or 4+ years of dialysis experience if allowed by state regulations. * Completion of unit-specific training with demonstrated competency. * Must meet state/licensing requirements. * Experienced PCTs need current certification from BONENT, NNCC, NNCO, and/or state certification as applicable; new PCTs must certify within a reasonable timeframe. * Previous ESRD experience preferred. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for experienced PCTs; new PCTs must obtain within 30 days. * Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals, and communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
