    Paraprofessional/ELL Para Date Available: When Filled Job Title: Title III Paraprofessional (English Language Learner-ELL) Location: Rock Springs Junior High School Reports To: Building Principal, Title III Coordinator Terms of Employment: 9 Months/Year Part-Time, At most 29 hours per week Salary: P-I $14.56, P-II $17.43, P-III $20.20 Nature and Scope of Job: The Title III Paraprofessional works under the general direction of the Principal and Title III classroom teachers of the assigned school(s) in which English Language Learner (ELL) students are enrolled. The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the students who qualify for services in the Title III program through the reinforcement of the classroom objectives and materials. Job Functions Essential Functions: 1. Works with students on an individual or group basis to develop a cognitive and social language base (i.e. emphasized by speaking, teaching, and directing students in English; home language used to clarify, explain, assist) 2. Assists the classroom teachers in bringing the students' achievement standards up to fluent English level 3. Completes the necessary paperwork for program compliance and accountability 4. Promotes the students' achievement through success in the Title III Program as well as the regular classrooms 5. Works collaboratively with the Title III teachers, classroom teachers, Principal, Title III Coordinator for the improvement and enrichment of instruction 6. Participates in professional development opportunities to improve ELL instruction and skills 7. Serves as liaison between home and school; translates at parent involvement activities when available Other Functions: 1. Participates, when available, in professional development designed for paraprofessionals 2. Follows all school district policies and procedures 3. Keeps informed by reading building and district communications 4. Responds to requests for information in a timely manner 5. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor Job Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Mental Ability: Demonstrates oral and written proficiency in both Spanish and English languages Demonstrates knowledge of computers and programs appropriate for reading, math, and language support Exhibits ability to follow ans successfully complete both written and oral directions Possesses ability to enunciate clearly and communicate positively throughout the work day Possesses visual acuity, aided or unaided, to read and interpret accurately written reports of a technical nature Demonstrates the ability to work with various personality types Maintains sound emotional judgment Minimum Requirements: High School Education or Equivalent Equipment Used: Computer/Peripherals Video Play-back Equipment Audio Play-back Equipment Photocopy Machine Physical Demands: Possesses stamina to remain on feet for periods of as long as 2 full hours without discomfort or excessive fatigue exhibits stamina to remain seated for periods of as long as 2 hours without discomfort or excessive fatigue Possesses visual acuity and stamina to work at a computer monitor for at least part of each day Possesses sufficient strength to lift boxes that weigh up to 50 pounds and be able to move them as far as 50 feet Environmental Demands: Occasional exposure to weather extremes Air conditioned buildings
