Department Profile:
MSU's multidisciplinary Department of Plant and Soil Sciences (PSS) hosts over 200 students in baccalaureate degrees in agronomy and horticulture, and master's and doctoral degrees in agronomy, horticulture, and weed science, both in-person and online. We are housed within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), in the Division of Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine (DAFVM).
Fifty-five dedicated and involved faculty, on- and off campus, engage in teaching, research, extension, and/or service programs, many of whom carry joint appointments. The department holds two endowed chairs and faculty are nationally prominent, with four Fellows in national/international societies. 9. Maximizes the use of existing priority planning groups and advisory councils to identify priorities and plan programs.

Part of the Bagley College of Engineering, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering serves approximately 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers undergraduate programs in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and jointly administers a program in Computer Engineering with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Computer Science program offers concentrations in Artificial Intelligence, Systems, Human and Visual Computing, Computational Science, and General. In addition, the department offers a B.A.S. in Cybersecurity and three minors: Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, and Software Engineering. An accelerated B.S./M.S. program allows students to complete a B.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering along with an M.S. in Computer Science in four academic years plus one calendar year. At the graduate level, the department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science as well as M.S. degrees in Cyber Security and Operations, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science. The department includes 28 faculty members and 7 staff members. In fiscal year 2024, research expenditures totaled over $4.6 million. Core research areas include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, computational science, visualization and graphics, bioinformatics, parallel and distributed computing, software engineering, human-robot interaction, augmented and virtual reality, and computer science education. Part of the Bagley College of Engineering, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering serves approximately 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers undergraduate programs in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and jointly administers a program in Computer Engineering with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Computer Science program offers concentrations in Artificial Intelligence, Systems, Human and Visual Computing, Computational Science, and General. In addition, the department offers a B.A.S. in Cybersecurity and three minors: Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, and Software Engineering. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.It is expected that the successful candidate will have the desire and ability to teach courses at the undergraduate level as well as courses at the graduate level related to the candidate's areas of research.

Successful candidate(s) will be expected to teach in various levels of architecture design studios and courses while productively engaging in peer-reviewed scholarly research and/or activities.
Successful candidates shall receive a recurring 9-month appointment throughout the tenure-track process. The typical faculty workload consists of teaching a combined total of eighteen credit-hours per academic year. This includes 2 six-credit hour studio classes and 2 three-credit hour lecture classes.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research (75%), and teaching (25%) program in dairy foods/dairy processing for this 9-month tenure track position. The Departments of Animal and Dairy Science (ADS) and Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Health Promotion (BCHNHP) are cooperating departments, along with the interdisciplinary Food Science Innovation Hub, for this faculty position aimed at advancing dairy manufacturing expertise at Mississippi State University in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES). The Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences (ADS) currently houses approximately 540 undergraduate and graduate students and 22 faculty both on campus and at research and extension centers throughout Mississippi. The Department conducts teaching, research, and extension activities on the 1,200-acre H.H. Leveck Animal Research Center and Bearden Research Dairy. The Bearden Dairy Research Facility is a 1,200-acre farm with 135-150 free-stall housed lactating cows. milking -100 Holsteins and 35 Jerseys in a modern Double 8 parallel milking parlor. The heifer/dry cow facility can house 100 animals. Milk is sold to the Custer Dairy Processing Plant which is a unit of the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and is in the Herzer Building on the campus of Mississippi State University. The plant is a teaching and research laboratory for students studying dairy foods at Mississippi State University. The Department of Biochemistry, Nutrition, and Health Promotion (BCHNHP) faculty expertise includes biochemistry, molecular biology, food science, nutrition, dietetics, health promotion, and Culinology.
