Position Overview
RedTire is a KU School of Business venture designed to enhance the economic well-being of Kansas and the surrounding states. The program finds the most suitably qualified candidate buyers to match with a successful small- to medium-sized business to prevent the shuttering of business due to a lack of owner successor. RedTire assists in successfully transitioning the business to new ownership and relies on University of Kansas (KU) student interns during the financial analysis and valuation modelling part of the process.
The KU student analyst's first objective is to provide assistance to the RedTire Director so that quality business and technical consulting assistance to RedTire clients is provided. Secondly, the aim of the role is to also provide an excellent experimental learning opportunity to the KU student. They will work on 'live real-world' case scenarios to successfully transition a business from a retiring owner, by redefining their retirement, to a new, younger owner who will acquire their business. The position works on-site at Capitol Federal Hall and will receive $10.25 per hour during the initial training period. Ideal candidates will continue in the role for multiple semesters and receive increasing wage adjustments for returning semesters, commensurate with performance.

Responsibilities
Our internship program mimics our full-time Financial Representative career, allowing you to:
Learn how to prospect and network to build your business and client base
Develop and execute on a business strategy
Call on potential clients and set meetings to understand their financial goals
Prepare plans and offer useful recommendations
Gain exposure to proprietary planning software platforms
Engage in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings
Receive Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health
Build life skills that create future career opportunities
As a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, you can expect a flexible schedule to work around your life and your classes. With the option to participate in our internship program year-round, you can continue to grow your practice and obtain support for registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or CFP . Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Intern to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting financial reporting, month-end close activities, and core accounting processes. In this role, you will gain exposure to the full suite of financial operations and contribute to meaningful projects in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Support the finance team in day-to-day operations to support employee payment, client billing and account reconciliation
Help prepare balance sheets and income statements
Assist with invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense tracking
Compile, review, and organize financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Assist with month-end and period-end close activities, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables
Assist with account reconciliations, variance analysis, and basic financial trend reporting
Assist the payroll team with preparing and processing payroll for US-based and international employees
Help review timecards, employee deductions, and tax information for accuracy
Support with payroll reporting, including earnings summaries and tax filings
Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive payroll and employee data
Assist in addressing employee payroll questions and routing them to appropriate contacts when necessary
Update documentation for standard operating procedures for recurring tasks
Collaborate with internal teams to support business operations and special projects
Requirements
Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
Strong interest in financial reporting, accounting, or corporate finance
Active involvement in campus, community, or other volunteer activities and/or organizations preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of confidentiality and professionalism
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
