Education, Disabilities and School Readiness Work collaboratively with the Early Childhood Family Services Manager to conduct age appropriate developmental, sensory and behavioral screening of motor, language, social, cognitive, perceptual and emotional skills within 45 days of child entering the program. Attend scheduled I.F.S.P. meetings to help plan for children and serve as an advocate for the program. Assist in planning and providing training for parents in school readiness and offers learning activities for parents to use in the home. Plan developmentally appropriate activities to be used at home visits using the Foundations Curriculum through Parents As Teachers. Ensure quality teacher interactions with children based on reflective supervision and HOVRS. Support the social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical developmental of children. 2. Health and Safety Assist Health Coordinator in determining whether or not each child has an ongoing source of continuous accessible health care. Work with Health Coordinator to ensure that dental appointments are made and follow-up treatment arranged when needed. Also encourage parents to be active partners in their child's health care. Maintain a clean, safe, healthy and emotionally supportive environment that is centered on the needs and abilities of each child. Foster safety awareness among children and parents by incorporating parent education and activities into the home visits. Follow good hygiene practices and promote it for others. Promote effective and developmentally appropriate dental hygiene education to parents. 3. Family Engagement and Support Involve parents to discuss their child's development and to involve them in program planning. Partner with Coordinators and consultants to share observations and information with parents about behavior and development of children and discuss how to strengthen environments and relationships in the home and at socializations. Conduct and review Family Assessments and prioritize the need for follow-up and referral with each assigned family. Establish initial contact with families and provide information about the program and complete Welcome to PAT. Work with the family to develop family goals, to provide support and assistance to the family in meeting developed goals. Assist families by providing referral to appropriate agencies for continued support or assistance and document follow-up made on referrals. Maintain communication with the Family Services Manager to ensure follow-through on identified family needs and maintain documentation. Transport family for health/dental appointments for the enrollment which may be scheduled out-of-county should other resources for transportation be exhausted. Assist with planning a variety of opportunities for interaction with parents throughout the year. Respect each family's diversity, cultural, and ethnic background. Work to prepare parents to become their children's advocate through transition periods, and support successful transitions for all children, including children with special needs. Encourage the involvement of the families in Head Start/Early Head Start and support the development of relationships between children and their families. Work with the Family Services Manager to establish and maintain working relationships with local agencies. Guide families in using the available services to meet their needs. Meet with the Family Services Manager at a minimum of once monthly to review family documentation. 4. Human Resources and Supervision Participate in the development of in-service training programs by providing suggestions for training needs and feedback to trainings attended. Participate in onboarding for new teaching staff as serving as a peer mentor. 5. Communication and Service Coordination Assist with recruitment to ensure that full enrollment is maintained throughout the year. Work closely with the EHS Manager to ensure that the home visiting attendance is maintained. 6. Planning, Analysis and Documentation Use information from screenings, observations, and assessments to determine the child's strengths and needs in creating an individual plan for each child. Assist in the annual review of the program goals and objectives that details the philosophy, objectives and strategies of the program. Complete and submit required paperwork in a complete and timely basis. Enter required information and follow up into Child Plus. 7. Operations and Facilities Meet periodically with the EHS Manager to determine the safety needs of home visiting. 8. Program Governance Participate in the program's annual self-assessment to review program operations and ensure compliance to the Head Start Act, Head Start Performance Standards, and Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework. Contribute to the program's ongoing monitoring by collecting and reviewing periodic child outcome data. Recruit and support parents in leadership roles. 9. Professionalism and Leadership Create and updates a professional development plan with the Family Services Manager. Share obtained information from any training attended with colleagues as appropriate. Participates in team teaching, staff meetings, conferences, required agency trainings, institutes of higher learning, and other opportunities that enhance professional development. Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff. Adhere to the NAEYC Ethical Code of Conduct. Maintain professional boundaries in relationships with staff and families. Maintain good attendance and punctuality. Show initiative and flexibility by being open to new ideas, approaches, and opportunities. Promote collaborative, productive, work environment by sharing planning, decision making, and problem solving responsibilities with other staff.
