About the Work Unit The Highway Safety Office (HSO), within the Office of Transportation Safety (OTS) at CDOT, exists to enhance the safety of the traveling public in Colorado through coordinated, integrated management of traffic safety education and enforcement programs. A key purpose of the HSO is to foster partnerships with CDOT Regions, federal and state agencies, local governments and the private sector to ensure the overall safety and mobility of the general public. The HSO develops goals, objectives and performance measures for the statewide highway safety program; develops the Triennial Highway Safety Plan, develops the annual Problem Identification Report; and provides policy guidance, interagency negotiations, quality assurance, and training. About the Position As the Law Enforcement Traffic Services Specialist, you will administer the Law Enforcement grant program and projects. Grants and projects managed by this position include those related to distracted driving, impaired driving, seat belts, teen drivers, law enforcement liaisons, and speed enforcement. This position serves as the Staff Authority on Law Enforcement initiatives and programs, which requires a unique level of specialized knowledge and expertise in the field of impaired enforcement and Standard Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) as well as knowledge and expertise in countermeasures, laws, trends and technology. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following * Provide expertise to HSO management in the development and delivery of goals, objectives, communications and implementation strategies for the projects directly related to Law Enforcement activity. * Oversee all aspects of the Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) program, including oversight of contractors. * Manage high level, mission critical highway safety grants, funded at the State and Federal level. * Conduct project management for high level grants, including reviewing applications, contract preparation, negotiation, pre-work conferences, monitoring visits, reviewing of reports for contract compliance, and evaluating performance. * Review and approve/deny payment of claims for grant reimbursement of work and materials and evaluate overall project direction and rate of progress. * Perform systematic file reviews during the year to ensure that files are compliant with prescribed NHTSA and state requirements. * Provide on-going training and technical assistance to grant projects as needed and/or requested, including project and financial management assistance. * Partner internally and externally with various stakeholders and represent the HSO on task forces, committees, and other groups to promote public policy and education. * Collaborate with the HSO management team in the planning, development and execution of HSO's publications, projects, events and initiatives. * Other job duties as assigned.     ABOUT FRANKLIN COUNTY MUNICIPAL COURT The Franklin County Municipal Court (FCMC) is the largest and busiest municipal court in the State of Ohio. The Court has fourteen judges in the General Division and one judge in the Environmental Division. Judges preside over civil, criminal, and traffic cases and conduct both jury and court trials. The Court's jurisdiction includes traffic cases, misdemeanor criminal cases, and civil cases where the amount at issue is $15,000 or less. The Environmental Division has exclusive jurisdiction to enforce local codes and regulations affecting real property, such as fire and building codes. The geographic jurisdiction of the Court is all of Franklin County and those portions of the City of Columbus that extend beyond the boundaries of Franklin County. Despite its jurisdiction and name, the Franklin County Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City of Columbus government. JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW The Franklin County Municipal Court operates a Court Security Program to maintain a safe environment for judges, employees, and all others having business in the courthouse. The Security Department currently consists of a Director of Security, Security Bailiff Supervisors, an Administrative Security Bailiff Supervisor, a Control Room Supervisor, and 19 security bailiff officers on the day shift, 5 security Bailiff officers on second shift, and a control room operator on the second and third shifts. The Court contracts with a private security company to provide the Municipal Court with additional support during evenings, weekends, and Holidays. Court Security Bailiff Officers are responsible for all security aspects of a courthouse, including ensuring that the judges and judicial staff, court employees, and general public visiting the courthouse are safe. Officers also ensure that no weapons are brought into the courthouse and that the staff and public complies with the FCMC Security and Emergency Response Procedures. Other job duties include watching entrances and exits, working at screening stations, and roaming the courthouse hallways to check for suspicious activity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned. This role is Full-time, 1st Shift, working hours as assigned by the Director of Court Security. Personal Protection and Security: Provide protection for judges, court staff, and administrators in courtrooms and parking facilities. Escort judges, jurors, and courthouse employees as needed. Respond appropriately to lethal threats and dynamic, chaotic, or evolving situations. Access Control and Screening: Screen vendors, visitors, employees, and packages using X-ray equipment, CCTV, and other access-control devices. Ensure no weapons, illegal drugs, or contraband enter the court facility. Escort deliveries throughout the Municipal Court Building after screening. Monitoring and Incident Response: Monitor cameras, radio traffic, alarms, and emergency calls. Investigate suspicious activities or individuals and assist in apprehending or detaining them if necessary.     ABOUT FRANKLIN COUNTY MUNICIPAL COURT The Franklin County Municipal Court (FCMC) is the largest and busiest municipal court in the State of Ohio. The Court has fourteen judges in the General Division and one judge in the Environmental Division. Judges preside over civil, criminal, and traffic cases and conduct both jury and court trials. The Court's jurisdiction includes traffic cases, misdemeanor criminal cases, and civil cases where the amount at issue is $15,000 or less. The Environmental Division has exclusive jurisdiction to enforce local codes and regulations affecting real property, such as fire and building codes. The geographic jurisdiction of the Court is all of Franklin County and those portions of the City of Columbus that extend beyond the boundaries of Franklin County. Despite its jurisdiction and name, the Franklin County Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City of Columbus government. JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW The Franklin County Municipal Court operates a Court Security Program to maintain a safe environment for judges, employees, and all others having business in the courthouse. The Security Department currently consists of a Director of Security, Security Bailiff Supervisors, an Administrative Security Bailiff Supervisor, a Control Room Supervisor, and 19 security Bailiff officers on the day shift, 5 security Bailiff officers on the second shift, and a Control Room Operator on the second and third shifts. The Court contracts with a private security company to provide the Municipal Court with additional support during evenings, weekends, and Holidays. The Security Bailiff Supervisor is under the direction of the Director of Security and assists in all aspects of the management of the Security Department. The Bailiff Supervisor typically works a 40-hour week, but is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and may be required to be on duty some evenings, weekends, or holidays as the need arises.     GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE Responsible for the safety and security of all people and property in and around the facilities. The Security Officer will make periodic checks of the properties to insure the safety and security of all persons and properties. The Security Officer is always aware of his/her surroundings, watching for any type of illegal occurrences, fire or other hazardous conditions. Responds to emergency situations to assist parties in need. ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Protects and serves the patients, staff and visitors of FRMC. Monitors medical center buildings and grounds to maintain a safe and secure environment and takes appropriate action to resolve problems. Investigates incidents, accidents, or complaints on medical center property. Completes the necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner. Coordinates with local police and fire departments. Conducts general safety inspections of building & grounds and visual inspections of Life Safety equipment. Provides physical intervention when needed to subdue or restrain persons to protect individuals from harm. Responds to Code Violet calls. Operates detecting devices and performs searches to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas. Warns persons of rule infractions or violations and evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary. OTHER TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Administers Breath Alcohol tests. (Completion of DOT Certification required) Inspects fire extinguishers, fire doors, emergency exit lights, panic alarms, and AED's. Demonstrates responsibility for continued growth, competence, and development. Assists patients, visitors and employees. Provides personal assistance, first aid, emotional support or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers or patients. Conducts fire and other emergency drills. Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training and staff meetings. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES High school graduate or GED equivalent required. Prior military, police or security experience preferred. Must achieve Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certificate for police training or International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security certification within six months of hire. Must have BAT (Breath Alcohol Technician) certification upon hire or obtained within six months of hire with re-certification every 5 years. Must have CPR/AED/First Aid certification upon hire or obtained within three months of hire with re-certification every 2 years. Must have Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training upon hire or obtained within six months of hire with re-certification every 2 years. Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request. Must have a telephone and reliable transportation. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective security operations for the protection of people, data, property and institutions. Competency in the use of computers, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required. Excellent problem solving skills. Good observation skills necessary. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven dependability and consistency. Must possess the physical ability to walk long distances, perform in inclement weather, travel between multiple facilities and perform repetitive duties. Must pass a pre-employment physical including a functional capacity test and must pass a pre-employment background check. Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Medical Center emergency codes. Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms. Successful completion of a ninety (90) day get-acquainted period.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The ASCPL is hiring a part-time Security Officer at the North Hill Branch Library to support our Mission Statement to provide resources for learning and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs for all ages that support, improve, and enrich individual, family, and community life. The Security Officer works approximately 25.5 hours per week (Monday-Thursday 3-8 pm, Friday 12-6 pm) and: Patrols Library buildings, grounds, and parking lots. Secures buildings at closing and sets alarm systems or assists as needed. Is responsible for being the last person to leave the Library premises when closing. Monitors electronic or video security system. Observes customer behavior and intervenes when problems occur. Advises Library customers of behavior guidelines and enforces those guidelines. Assists with the evacuation or movement of the employee and public in emergency situations. Performs routine recordkeeping activities and completes incident reports, as necessary. Accompanies the Library's employees to parking areas, as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Required: High school diploma or equivalent. CPR/First Aid Certification within one year of hire. Knowledge of facility and employee security principles and practices. Skill in customer service. Ability to assess potential problem situations quickly and discreetly and effectively deescalate them without disruption of Library services to the public. Understanding of the principles of intellectual freedom. Ability to use a computer and job-related software or systems applicable to the essential functions of the job. Ability to perform duties in all weather conditions. Moderate physical effort, including considerable standing and walking. Must comport oneself in accordance with high ethical standards both on and off duty. Accountable for securing, receipting, marking, and properly transporting all evidence and property coming into custody as prescribed by Policy & Procedures and under the law. Completion of records and reports as prescribed by departmental procedure or as ordered by the commanding officer. Proficiently operate police equipment including but not limited to: police cruiser, weapons, radio, cameras, recorders, BAC Intoxilyzer, electronic speed measuring devices, and department computers A Patrol Officer shall be assigned to a motorized vehicle and shall be available for radio dispatch and when getting out of the vehicle, shall notify the radio dispatcher of that fact and give a location and Code Signal for the reason of departing the vehicle. Further, a Patrol Officer shall exert every effort to satisfy the needs of citizens requesting service, assistance, or information, as courteously as circumstances will permit. Hours of duty will be established by the posted work schedule. A Patrol Officer shall be available at all times in cases of special needs or emergencies and shall respond punctually to an assignment. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) Must have a current Ohio Peace Officers Certificate Any combination of education and or experience beyond high school demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and aptitude for police patrol work.
