Responsibilities ~ Lead the design and development of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and low voltage systems for commercial, industrial, municipal and healthcare facilities. ~ Perform load calculations, equipment sizing using industry-standard software. ~ Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, details and one-line diagrams. ~ Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders. ~ Conduct site visits, field inspections, and construction administration including review of shop drawings, RFIs etc. ~ Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. ~ Perform QA/QC reviews of projects to ensure high standards of quality are maintained. ~ Ensure compliance with local codes, standards and client requirements. ~ Interface with clients, attend project meetings, and present technical solutions. ~ Participate in project sales proposals and interviews. ~ Conduct site assessments and generate comprehensive technical reports. Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in electrical design. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams. Strong knowledge of electrical codes, energy efficiency standards, and sustainable design practices. Excellent leadership, mentoring and project management skills. Strong technical writing and communication skills. Preferred Skills: LEED Accreditation or other sustainable building certifications. Overview As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design and analysis of electrical systems for a variety of projects, from concept through construction. Duties and Responsibilities Prepares electrical system designs, including power distribution and lighting design, at the schematic, design development and construction document phases of a project. Analyzes design and construction issues for solutions and/or incorporation. Develops technical specifications as required. Performs design/constructability reviews. Comments on electrical issues, including cost, design and construction technology. Evaluates site and building conditions and prepares technical reports of investigations. Interprets applicable codes for compliance and applies this knowledge to documents prepared and/or reviewed to ascertain compliance with those codes, standards and requirements. Assists in maintaining log of all revisions to standard drawings and specifications, and manages the file containing current specifications and logs of all proposed changes to the standard documents. Assists in performing value engineering analysis and reviews. Assists the estimating department in the development of conceptual and detailed cost projections. Performs commissioning of electrical systems and monitors activities to ensure that construction, installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. Supports and participates in business development and marketing efforts including the preparation of proposals and presentations for new work. Assists in the development and implementation of department design and document standards. Stamps engineering documents as required. Applies workplace health and safety policies and procedures to daily activities. Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in engineering or related field or equivalent experience required. 10 or more years of position related work experience in engineering or related field. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of applicable codes and standards required. Knowledge of the architecture, engineering and construction management industry is required. Effective computer skills including proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Bluebeam, Revit and specialized software appropriate to professional qualification required; and scheduling database (Project) software preferred. Provides budgetary M/E estimates, based upon program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating system for assigned projects. Reviews the mechanical and electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and completes systems analysis for select projects. Gains knowledge of developing the mechanical and electrical scopes of work used to coordinate during the bid process. Participates in the completion of bid analysis and provides input during subcontractor selection process. Develops sequencing requirements of various systems and provides solutions to meet the schedule requirements. Reviews the design documents and identifies potential quality problems to help develop constructability review reports.
