As an Electrical Integration and Development Engineer, you will be the technical leader responsible for the electrical integration, troubleshooting, and development of our prototype test assets and vehicles. You'll be the go-to person for resolving complex electrical issues, bridging the gap between design and manufacturing, and ensuring our vehicles meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. + Drive the electrical bring-up of prototype vehicles, ensuring seamless integration of all electrical systems and components
+ Spearhead vehicle-level issue diagnosis and triage, utilizing first principles of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues effectively
+ Collaborate with hardware, software, and integration engineers to design and release mitigation strategies and clear vehicle issue roadblocks

Department: Engineering / Maintenance Reports To: Engineering Manager
Toyoda Gosei, a Tier One supplier to Toyota, is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to support our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems, including switchgear, power distribution, and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) integration within our production environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical engineering, ensuring system reliability, safety, and efficiency in alignment with Toyota Production System (TPS) principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize electrical power distribution systems, including switchgear and circuit protection.
Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems, controls, and automation equipment within a manufacturing environment.
Support the integration of PCB (Printed Circuit Board) components into production processes and equipment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, production, and quality, to resolve electrical and automation issues.
Ensure compliance with Toyota Production System (TPS) principles, NFPA standards, and OSHA electrical safety regulations.
Assist in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new or upgraded electrical equipment.
Develop and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation to support manufacturing operations.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel on electrical systems and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive or Tier One supplier industry.
Strong knowledge of switchgear, power distribution, circuit protection, and industrial electrical systems.
Experience with PCB design, troubleshooting, and integration is a plus.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for electrical design and documentation.
Familiarity with PLC systems, automation controls, and industrial networking preferred.
Knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS), Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen principles is highly desirable.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

**Qualifications - Required**
+ BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
+ 10+ years of engineering experience in design and development of active & passively cooled ECU designs.
+ Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries.
+ Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (NX and Teamcenter preferred), 2D drawings, tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, and assembly.
+ Proficiency in CAE skills (ANSYS, ABAQUS & Genesis).

The Role:
General Motors is at the forefront of the transformation of automotive with the electrification of our portfolio and the development of leading-edge central compute and autonomous capabilities. Our ECU Mechanical & Thermal Design team is a dynamic, high-energy, and innovative group focused on developing mechanical and thermal design of next generation ECUs (Electronic Control Units). The team is responsible for developing Mechanical and Thermal design of new next gen ECU designs, with math, CAD and analysis. The team also reviews and approves production ECU design changes.
We are seeking a high-performing Mechanical Design Engineer interested in leading the in-house development of GM electronics design. You will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, and review of Electrical Controllers, for our next generation SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) architecture. You will be depended upon to build strong partnerships with internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:
Execute mechanical design of ECUs per program timing, leading to successful launch of the product.
Design mechanical components including castings, injection moldings, stampings, seals, electrical interface, PCBA mounts, connector interfaces and fastening.
Perform design calculations, GD&T and tolerance stacks.
Create 3D-CAD math and lead CAD reviews with stakeholders.
Develop analysis and test plan for new designs, perform proof of concept tests and analysis.
Create 2D-drawings for housing, sub-assemblies & PCB as per ASME standards.
Perform FEA (Structural, Vibration, Mechanical shock, Fatigue), Modal analysis.
Lead prototyping and testing, analyze test data, and make necessary adjustments to mechanical designs.
Lead DFx activities with suppliers and implement cost optimization strategies into design.
Work with electrical engineers and PCBA designers to integrate components into electro-mechanical systems.
Build partnerships with functional peers internally within GM and externally at Tier 1 suppliers to align on ECU design per development cycles.
Develop virtualization technologies that help accelerate and de-risk product development
Communicate design progress and risks to stakeholders and customers.
Drive Mechanical design strategy for the enterprise.
Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications - Required
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
10+ years of engineering experience in design and development of active & passively cooled ECU designs.
Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (NX and Teamcenter preferred), 2D drawings, tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, and assembly.
Proficiency in CAE skills (ANSYS, ABAQUS & Genesis).
Strong analytical skills and engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics, material science, heat transfer, mechanism design, and manufacturing
Hands-on experience engaging with electronics manufacturers.
Qualifications - Preferred
Master's degree/PhD in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
Mechanical design of PCBAs, computers, or automotive electronics
Strong understanding of thermal solutions and their application.
Knowledge of vibrational and structural analysis
Experience with ASME Y14.5-2009 dimensioning & tolerancing standards.

Role Overview
This role focuses on the design, development, and validation of electronic hardware for exterior lighting systems across GM vehicle programs. You will apply strong engineering judgment to define system requirements, lead hardware design decisions, resolve complex technical issues, and support product launch activities. Key Responsibilities
Develop exterior lighting electronic hardware in alignment with GM vehicle electrical architecture and functional safety (ISO 26262 / ASIL requirements).
Evaluate and propose lamp electronics design concepts, balancing styling intent, engineering feasibility, cost, and performance.
Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of electronic component and system-level issues across development, pre-production builds, launch, and current production.
Support global vehicle programs and work directly with global supply base and partners.
Create and manage performance requirements considering benchmarking, program targets, energy management, mass, lighting appearance, animations, and packaging.
Conduct competitive benchmarking to guide system design direction.
Lead or support advanced technology investigations and component-level innovation.
Make sound engineering decisions with incomplete information while prioritizing customer experience and program goals.
Perform system trade-off analyses across cost, complexity, power consumption, timing, and manufacturability.
Provide technical leadership within product development teams and manage subsystem deliverables.
Communicate status, risks, and design decisions clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership.
Develop Statements of Requirements (SORs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Contribute to peer reviews and continuous improvement of design and development processes.
