    Senior Staff Accountant: The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing financial functions including payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, preparation of invoices, assists with organizational budget, grant and contract budgets and expenditure reports, and maintaining all accounting records and files. Coordinates general ledger functions, month-end closing process, preparation of financial reports and statements and daily banking functions. Processes and maintains payroll cycle. Performs various general accounting, statistical and analytical tasks in preparation of the monthly financial statements and budgets. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Process Bi-weekly payroll, manage benefit functions in conjunction with HR Plan, schedule and organize month-end closing accounting tasks. Supervise accounting staff Prepare assigned monthly general journal entries and post to the general ledger. Produce monthly financial statements and statistical reports. Including variance analysis reviews and reports for discussion with Director of Finance and CFO. Review and approve all bank monthly as prepared by Accounting Associate. Program and maintain custom reports, spreadsheets and schedules as required. Assist Staff Accountant with detailed fixed asset and depreciation schedules for capital purchases and donated assets. Assist with annual financial audit including preparation of year-end accruals and closing activities Assist in the continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and collaboratively to provide quality, seamless internal and external customer service. Develop and maintain written procedures and guidelines for accounting functions. Complete special assignments/projects as assigned. Perform identified back-up functions for the Director of Finance,and Staff Accountant. SUCCESS CAPABILITIES: Five years' experience in general accounting, general ledger,(preferably in a non-profit environment) Proficient in Microsoft Office Knowledge of Great Plains and Traction Rec preferred Previous payroll processing experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles High degree of analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting time-sensitive deadlines Demonstrated planning, follow-up and organization skills Must demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills Flexible to work both independently and in a team environment PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and some light work and lifting requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds occasionally; work requires stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, standing, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication; hearing, and visual acuity.
