We are seeking an intern in our Washington, DC, office to support the Multimedia and Media teams in our Communications department. The intern would provide video, editing, production, research and administrative support to the Multimedia team, and research, writing, and administrative support to the Media team. Note: This internship is in-person at our Washington, D.C. office. Responsibilities: All interns will assist with general research and administrative work for the Brennan Center, including coordinating meetings, and drafting routine correspondence. Additionally, there will be opportunities to attend and observe substantive meetings, events, and conversations on program work. In addition to administrative duties and supporting Brennan en Español as needed, specific responsibilities include: * For the Multimedia team - Assisting with creating video assets for Brennan Center's digital platforms by filming videos with Brennan Center experts in office or on location. Interns will also assist with script writing, editing short-form video, researching stills, and motion and music for video production. * For the Media team - Brainstorming press strategies, creating and updating press lists, drafting occasional pitches, archiving press clips, and researching journalists and producers. Responsibilities include assisting with and developing promotional activities for the three centers; assisting students with the visa process and providing support in understanding provided visa guidance, processing application materials; organizing additional activities for students such as pre-departure and alumni events; developing and maintaining program websites; establishing creative new outreach methods to engage with students in these three programs; maintaining AU Abroad's social media platforms; maintaining the alumni database, and providing back up support for AU Abroad front desk operations. The Graduate Assistant will report to the AU Abroad Assistant Director. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. Student. 20 hours per week. Scheduled work hours are flexible within Monday through Thursday, 9 am - 5 pm, with preferred availability on Tuesday and Thursday. Preferred start day: January 12th. The incumbent must be an enrolled AU graduate student. Salary Range: $18.50 per hour. Required Education and Experience: Strong attention to detail and reliability are essential for success. Candidates should be patient, creative, able to work independently, have experience with data entry, have experience organizing events for students, and be familiar with social media. Organizational skills are essential. The right candidate will have excellent customer service skills and be able to multitask during peak volume times. Preferred Education and Experience: Graduate student with international experience preferred and a demonstrated interest in international education. Experience previously working in a study abroad office or in a student-facing capacity is a plus. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required. AppleTree provides free, full-day public charter school programming for three- and four-year olds in 13 locations across Washington, DC, employing our innovative and award winning instructional model, called Every Child Ready (ECR). This instructional model provides educators with tools and resources for "What to Teach", "How to Teach" and "How to Measure Success." Our instructional model is also used with partners across the nation. Position Summary Floating Teaching Assistants serve as an integral part of the teaching team for AppleTree students. During the school day, School Aides provide instructional supports and implement classroom activities either in the absence of assigned teaching staff or on a daily basis, when coverage is needed. School Aides are generally not assigned to a dedicated classroom but float as needed throughout the campus or between campuses as needed. School Aides instructional training alongside their teaching team and use their knowledge of the development of young children, the ways in which young children learn and scientifically based practice to support the social, emotional and cognitive development of young children. During the Extended Day Program, Floating Teaching Assistants may plan for and provide instruction to students enrolled in Before Care and/or Extended Day programming and serve as on-site Group Leader for Extended Day Team Members. If no instructional supports are needed, the Floating Teaching Assistant may support the School Operations Specialist and/or Principal in the operations of the school such as front desk support, assisting with events, meals and other operational tasks.
