Multi-Modal Agent Systems:

Research & Innovation: Stay current with the latest academic research and open-source advancements in generative AI. Prototype new ideas and conduct experiments to validate their feasibility and impact.
Education: Ph.D in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related streams.
Technical Proficiency:
Experience with generative AI (LLMs, diffusion models, generative architectures)
Experience with agentic AI systems, reinforcement learning, or autonomous systems
Strong programming skills in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Experience with LangChain, AutoGPT, Microsoft Autogen, or similar agent frameworks
Proficiency with transformer architectures and fine-tuning techniques
Deep understanding of prompt engineering, reasoning techniques, and LLM capabilities
Experience with RAG systems, vector databases, and knowledge retrieval

Group/Division
KLA has always had a close relationship with physics and data. Our optical and electron beam inspection and measurement tools use cutting edge physics models, both for hardware design and as part of their algorithms. AI, including several traditional machine learning techniques and deep learning are routinely used to process this data to meet application requirements.
The AI & Modeling Center of Excellence, centered in KLA's R&D facility in Ann Arbor, MI, was setup with the mission of advancing KLA's traditional strengths in physics and data and providing implementation solutions for multiple KLA Inspection and Metrology products targeted at the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
As a part of this group, you will be part of a world class team of physicists, HPC system designers, machine learning and application engineers who build cutting edge solutions for modeling complex imaging techniques and semiconductor processes. Responsibilities
Research and innovate next-generation electromagnetic solvers and algorithms for semiconductor device
Develop numerical models and algorithms for computational electromagnetics and plasma physics
Understand when the models and algorithms break down and develop testing procedures to validate assumptions in the models
Work with Advanced Development and Applications teams to confirm the feasibility of the new algorithms
Document the theory and implementation of the new algorithms, and give presentations both internally and externally regarding the work
Provide technical support during alpha and beta testing
Maintain new and existing algorithms and software solutions
Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) in the physical sciences or engineering.
Strong background in numerical simulations in computational electromagnetics, plasma physics, or relevant fields.
Strong background in applied mathematics, optimization algorithms, computational geometry, linear algebra, partial differential equations, and statistics
Strong background in computer programming, especially in performance profiling, memory optimization, and parallel computing
Writing production-quality, object-oriented code
Experience in GPU/CUDA is a plus

Energy and Propulsion Systems Research is aimed at driving propulsion and vehicle efficiency, cost, and performance improvements. Total enterprise cost reduction through warranty improvement and engineering development efficiency are key areas.
GM continues to make progress towards electric vehicle (EV) profitability, and there is a strong need for expertise in battery systems, i.e., the non-cell portion of the battery pack and its integration into the rest of the vehicle systems.
This position is dedicated to advancing critical core expertise that supports the development of cutting-edge propulsion and energy storage technologies, spanning electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
The role requires covering a wide-ranging, diverse set of topics aimed at improving propulsion and vehicle system efficiency, cost, and quality. This includes the need for significant exploration and research in:
Advance the state-of-the-art battery systems for BEV, PHEV, HEV, and EREV architectures
Innovation in Battery Systems (Structure/Electrical/Thermal) - design, packaging, integration, safety and assembly

What You'll Do
Support study coordination by preparing visit materials and assisting with scheduling.

Monitoring the Future (MTF) is a large national Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs study of American youth and is one of the largest studies within the Survey Research Center (SRC) at the Institute for Social Research (ISR). MTF has collected data from well over a million respondents. It is supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and has been ongoing continuously since 1975.
Responsibilities*
40% Study Participant Communications
* Answer incoming calls to the project's main phone
* Triage and transfer calls to relevant reearch staff as neccessary
* Conduct outbound calls to schools to obtain and confirm student enrollment numbers, principal contact, and mailing address information
30% Research Mailings
* Assemble mailings of important study materials to approximately 450 schools, including parental consent forms, for over 65,000 students
* Assemble large batch survey mailings
* Process incoming and outgoing mail related to the study
* Process returned surveys
20% Data Management
* Update databases with new school information gained from outbound calls and inform research staff of changes
* Verify incoming respondent contact details by phone and mail
* Conduct tracking of longitudinal survey respondents using internet-based search software
10% Additional Responsibilities
* Perform additional project-related tasks as necessary, which may include bulk mailings and additional data entry
