What You'll Do
The
MedicalAssistant
plays a significant role within the healthcare team at Clinic 3, a specialty clinic that includes robust specialties such as women's health, behavioral health, ENT, metabolic clinic, dermatology, and more. They offer vital administrative and clinical support to ensure effective operations and top-notch, compassionate patient care under the guidance of a medical provider.
Maintain clean, organized exam rooms for patient evaluations.
Collect medical histories and record vital signs in electronic health records.
Administer immunizations per clinical protocols.
Perform blood draws and prepare specimens for lab analysis.
Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism.
Stay updated on public health guidelines to ensure compliance.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The MedicalAssistant performs a variety of patient care and clerical activities to assist physicians, nursing and clerical personnel. Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 1+ year experience in pediatrics preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Graduate of an accredited medicalassistant program required. California MedicalAssistant certification preferred. American Heart Association CPR required.

The Medical Support Specialist (MSS) is responsible for performing routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician as well as supports in other areas of the facility as needed including registration and referral management. This role requires efficient and accurate delivery of one-on-one patient care while thriving in a fast-paced environment. The MSS ensures that every patient is treated the with quality clinical care and receives an excellent patient experience from welcoming, respectful, and skillful colleagues.
Responsibilities
Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing
Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
Assist providers during examination and treatment
Responsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as needed
Prepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury care
Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinician
Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulations
Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center
Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
Maintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected
In partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volume
Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit
Responsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keeping
Ensure accuracy in documentation
Perform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as needed
Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
Attend center staff meetings or huddles as required
Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facility
Complete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthly

Qualifications

About the role:

You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations.
How you will contribute:
You will answer phones, and greet and focus on our donors, while ensuring the safety of donors and our team.
You will screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.
You will use our Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation.
You will help identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company approved procedures.
You will be there for our donors, which includes working a variety of shifts, Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays.
What you bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift

Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. Conducts quality checks.
Performs and supports patient reception including performing check-in and check-out, registration, scheduling and coordinating patient follow up visits.
Creates moderately complex patient correspondence (i.e completes medication administration permission forms, refill request routing, etc.). Participates in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) medication management. May need to synthesize or compile data from multiple areas of medical record to complete forms.

Provides general office support including phone and fax management.

Ensures supplies are ready by monitoring inventory, stocking work areas, placing orders and verifying receipt.
Participates in hospital committees as directed by leadership.
Serves as a mentor, expert in clinical area/skill, a safety coach/specialist, and continuously assists in reviewing and assessing peers' skill set.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. Reports areas of concern to next care provider.

Completes lab test follow up and medical record documentation.
Prepares and completes medical record for visit by recording patient information, treatment, and test results. Assists with patient "MyChart" enrollment.
Participates in the standardized education of patients through written instructions and answering questions as directed by provider.
Cross trains to multiple specialties/sub-specialties for front and back office (where applicable).

Explain procedures, perform treatments, and administer prescribed medications as directed.
Support patient check-out by scheduling follow-up appointments, collecting co-payments when applicable, and ensuring documentation is complete.
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
Reconcile co-payments at the end of each day in accordance with clinic procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
MedicalAssistant certificate / certification from an accredited training program required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills may be required, depending on location or patient population.
Satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis (TB) test is required.
Phlebotomy background is strongly preferred.

What You'll Do
The MedicalAssistant plays a vital role on our healthcare team, providing both administrative and clinical support to ensure smooth operations and quality patient care. They will provide direct, compassionate and professional medical care to patients at our Clinic West Campus and assist in all aspects of medical practice under the supervision of a medical provider.
Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during exams
Take and record vital signs, patient history, and symptoms
Administer immunizations and assist with lab specimen collection
Support patients with questions and education
Stay current with public health procedures and protocols
Who We're Looking For
CMA/RMA certification or equivalent experience preferred
BLS certification (or obtained within 3 months of hire)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
Demonstrated reliability, teamwork, and patient service
