Perform sophisticated analytics (statistical and predictive analytics, machine learning modeling, etc.) to provide actionable insights that improve business outcomes and minimize risk and also provide consultation to business leaders and other stakeholders on how to leverage analytics insights and build strategies around analytics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Independently perform sophisticated data analytics (ranging from classical econometrics to machine learning, neural networks, and natural language processing) in a variety of environments using structured and unstructured data.
2. Produce compelling data visualizations to communicate insights and influence outcomes among a wide array of stakeholders.
3. Take accountability and ownership of end-to-end data science solution design, technical delivery, and measurable business outcome.
4. Engage in stakeholder meetings to identify business objectives and scope solution requirements.
5. Independently write, document, and deploy custom code in a variety of environments (Python, SAS, R, etc.) to create predictive analytics applications.
6. Use, maintain, share and collaborate through Truist internal code repositories to foster continual learning and cross-pollination of skillsets.
7. Actively research and advocate adoption of emerging methods and technologies in the data science field, with the eye of continually advancing Truist's capabilities.
8. Exercise sound judgment and foster risk management culture throughout design, development, and deployment practices; partner with cross-functional teams to coordinate rules on data usage, data governance and analytics capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree and four or more years of experience in a quantitative field such as Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent education and related training
2. Exhibit understanding of statistical methods, including a broad understanding of classical statistics, probability theory, econometrics, time-series, and primary statistical tests
3. Familiarity with linear algebra concepts for optimization, complex matrix operations, eigenvalue decompositions, and principal components; working knowledge of calculus/differential equations, with understanding of stochastic processes
4. Demonstrate understanding of data cleansing and preparation methodologies, including regex, filtering, indexing, interpolation, and outlier treatment
5. Strong familiarity with data extraction in a variety of environments (SQL, JQuery, etc.)
6. Working knowledge of Hadoop, Pig, Hive, and/or NoSQL, Spark
7. Experience in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines in a collaborative environment

What You'll Bring:
B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in a related field, such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or Data Engineering.

Compensation:
The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual's qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Greater Seattle area target pay range: $165,369-$202,117. The full pay range is $137,807-$229,679.
Outside greater Seattle area target pay range: $145,941-$178,373. The full pay range is $121,617-$202,696.
Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.
Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.

Position Summary:
As a member of the Analytics team, the Data Scientist Lead will be focused on improving the single-family rental (SFR) customer experience, increasing occupancy rates, and reducing costs on home repairs and renovations. This is a high visibility role with exposure to multiple functions within the organization. Day to day partnerships include working with his/her team and cross-functionally at the senior leadership level to understand Progress's business challenges and recommend data-driven solutions.
The right candidate is naturally curious, has excellent quantitative modeling and creative problem-solving skills, an ability to partner with stakeholders to drive results, and likes working in a fast paced environment. Additionally, this person must have demonstrated the ability to execute projects end to end with minimal supervision and be able to create a compelling case for change in PowerPoint, articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders at all levels including the C-suite.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages Projects Independently
Establish a professional and trusting relationship with stakeholders (Director and VP level)
Lead and complete projects once given the objective and direction. Hold intake sessions, size projects, design solutions, manage scope and recalibrate work priorities as needed
Communicate regularly and effectively on project status, clarity of deliverables, and requirements
Mentor junior members of the team on projects - structure, solution builds, organizing data, etc.
Use a variety of techniques to analyze large data sets ranging from unsupervised machine learning (ex: XGBoost, CatBoost, Random Forest) to research-driven root cause. These tools will be used to highlight opportunities with Progress's key business drivers. For example, likelihood to renew, collectability scoring, predicted costs for renovations, building decision trees to support operating efficiencies for home repairs
Segment data using techniques such as Clustering (ex: k-means, KNN) and Decision Trees
Develop predictive models for these segments; conduct quantitative research and back-testing to evaluate model assumptions and develop confidence in results
Develop new analytical approaches to problem-solving at Progress, driving improvements in the quality, efficiency & rigor of insights delivered to the business; use findings to guide change
Gather and aggregate data from multiple internal and external sources. Reconcile data with known sources of truth.
Uncover patterns, identify root causes, and accurately interpret operational and financial impact
Create compelling stories with data in PowerPoint; present findings to a broad group of cross-functional leaders (all levels including C-suite), using data to drive and influence management decisions
Develop and implement process controls to mitigate business risk and to improve operating efficiency; measure performance of implemented solutions over time
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required in a mathematics-based discipline such as engineering, math, statistics, economics or similar discipline; Master's degree preferred
10+ years of relevant data science, analytics, predictive analytics or advanced risk modeling with large-scale data and project management experience
3+ years of hands-on Python experience coding machine learning models (XGBoost, Random Forest, Catboost, etc.), time series (ARIMA, VC, etc.), regression and/or segmentation analyses on large data sets
3+ years of hands-on SQL experience, specifically to write complex, highly optimized queries across large volumes of structured and unstructured data in preparation for analyses; experience with Snowflake a plus
Experience presenting to an executive audience, building insightful presentations that use data to create compelling cases for change
Can quickly extract insights from various forms of data and succinctly guide the business on how to use them
Expert in statistics including probability theory and sampling, predictive modeling, test vs. control, and the application of these methods to solve real-world problems

We are seeking a technically skilled and business-savvy SQL Server Data Engineer to support our data infrastructure, reporting needs, and budgeting processes.
