    Job DescriptionSalary: FULLTIME EARLY CHILDHOOD COUNSELOR at our SEED Program - WILLMAR, MN (Starting January 2026) *Counselor $50k-$52k+ (DOE) PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Serving in a Circle of Courage community with 4 core Values of Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity. The most important one is Belonging; where everyone feels that they are a significant part of their local team (they are listened to). Reaching out with mental health services children who are at-risk and their families. Your services will be primarily in a welcoming Early Childhood Day Treatment environment, and some family based services for clinical care children and families. Connecting with other agencies (customers) who are working with the child. Scheduling. Your service will focus on helping the family and child, often during Day Treatment hours. Some after school hours and evenings about twice per week to connect with families. Documenting. Like all agencies, documenting of case notes and billable hours is required. Billing. Full-time staff provide 109 client hours per month out of the 173 working hours available in a month (40 hours x 4.3 actual weeks per month). The average client hours are 26-28 hours per week. QUALIFICATIONS: Counselor Level: High School Diploma with 4000 hours of working with children and families under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed mental health professional or; Bachelor's degree with 2000 hours of working with children and families under the direct supervision of a licensed mental health professional or; Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field and completed a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults and children and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields' or; Master's degree in human services related field. EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to work with children and families experiencing mental health issues in a direct care role. Familiar with a variety of counseling techniques with theories to aid in the care and treatment of individuals with mental health needs such as behavior modifications for children, child development education, communication, decision-making skills, anger management, social skills, leisure, self-esteem and basic home budgeting. As a licensed therapist with Family Preservation Services/CCS you will: Provide in-home family therapy services to adult or youth clients and their families. Conduct assessments of client needs using clinical interview, objective diagnostic tools. Develop treatment plan collaboratively with client and other providers Provide agreed upon and necessary therapeutic services, keeping with strength-based, evidence-based best practice Complete required documentation within required timelines Attend client recovery team meetings Actively participate in clinical supervision EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Master's degree in Social Work with Mental Health concentration, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related program is required. Essential Responsibilities: · Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes. · Apply social emotional learning concepts and other basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth. · Assure campers are properly supervised at all times while in daily program and in assigned cabin sleeping arrangements. · Be aware of and implement all safety guidelines and procedures within camp activities and cabin sleeping arrangements. · Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes. · Responsible for leading or assisting with the teaching of activities. · Actively participate in all program areas as assigned. · Provide for the progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities. · Assist in program areas such as waterfront, nature, all camp activities, challenge course, archery, horses, and arts and crafts as directed. · Maintain high standards for health and mental health in all activities for campers. · Provide care for each camper within your supervision during the day and at night in cabin sleeping arrangements. · Ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. · Ability to identify and respond to camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques in alignment with camp training and proactive response. · Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by the Health Office. · Be alert to campers needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems; discuss with camp health manager and/or camp director when appropriate. · Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested. · Maintain high standards of safety in all activities for campers and staff. · Know and understand proper supervision procedures while sleeping in the same cabin as participants of all ages. · Assist in maintaining accurate program records and documentation including incident reports. · Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program. · Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. Reaching out with mental health services children who are at-risk and their families. Your services will be primarily in a school environment, an office will be provided, and some home based services for clinical care children and families. Connecting with other agencies (‘customers') who are working with the youth. Scheduling. Your service will focus on helping the family and child, often during non-traditional hours when your clients are available - after school hours and evenings. Documenting. Like all agencies, documenting of case notes and billable hours is required. Billing. Full-time staff provide 109 client hours per month out of the 173 working hours available in a month (40 hours x 4.3 actual weeks per month). The average client hours are 26-28 hours per week. QUALIFICATIONS: Counselor Level: High School Diploma with 4000 hours of working with children and families under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed mental health professional or; Bachelor's degree with 2000 hours of working with children and families under the direct supervision of a licensed mental health professional or; Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field and completed a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults and children and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields' or; Master's degree in human services related field. Licensure Candidate: Completed master's degree and working toward licensure (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP). We provide licensure supervision. Licensed Therapist: Fully Licensed Mental Health Professional (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP). EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to work with children and families experiencing mental health issues in a direct care role. Familiar with a variety of counseling techniques with theories to aid in the care and treatment of individuals with mental health needs such as behavior modifications for children, child development education, communication, decision-making skills, anger management, social skills, leisure, self-esteem and basic home budgeting.
