Provides patient care based on assigned unit and as delegated by the RN including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile soaks, application of sterile simple dressings and non-sterile simple dressings, perineal care, basic ostomy care, nasal cannula, phlebotomy, EKG's and incentive spirometry. Insertion and removal of straight catheters (in & out catheters) and removal only of Foley catheters may be performed with appropriate training and clinical competency validation based on assigned unit. Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated. Assists the patient care team with transporting patients to diagnostic studies and floor assignments. Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures. Documents data on medical records and informs RN of activities performed, observations of patients and changes in patient status.
