Demonstrate knowledge principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide care for patients in the adult, adolescent, pediatric, and geriatric age groups. Experience: Prefer at least one year of intensive and general care as a respiratory therapist. Will require orientation to Guthrie Lourdes Hospital or Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. Demonstrates knowledge and competence in all areas of respiratory care related to pulmonary diagnostics. 8. Ability to multitask and prioritize work in accordance with workload. Functions independently in and demonstrates initiative in completing work assignment. 9. Consistently provides accurate and thorough documentation in the EHR per departmental, organizational, and regulatory agency requirements. 10. Recognizes emergency situations and initiates proper plan of action. 11. Assists with bronchoscopy procedures in accordance with policy. 12. Performs Methacholine challenge testing in accordance with policy and procedure. 13. Provides patient and family education. 14. Demonstrates cost effective patient care by utilizing resources responsibly. 15. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Other Duties: 1. Ensures reports and data are transferred to Epic. 2. Collects data from daily activities in the Pulmonary Lab and prepares charge tickets as needed. 3. Disassembles, cleans and reassembles pulmonary function testing equipment 4. Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to all organizational and departmental policies. 5. Maintains active status with NBRC 6. Remains current with all RQI requirements 7. Attends department meetings and mandatory in-services. 8. Assists with special projects and committees as assigned. 9. Demonstrates competencies as specified annually. 10. Practices good customer service/patient experience. 11. Regularly assists coworkers as necessary. 12. Supports department and organizational QA/QI/PI initiatives and identifies opportunities for improvement. 13. Possesses high ethical standards. 14. The computerized tomography technologist, under the direction of a radiologist and supervisor, with minimum supervision, must maintain the daily function of the Computerized Axial Tomography department. Perform a variety of technical procedures, including the control of ionizing radiation producing equipment for radiological diagnosis. Education, License & Cert: Associates degree with additional skills training (certification). Two years. ARRT(R) Certification required; Advanced certification (ARRT)(CT) preferred. Experience: Minimum of one year. It is recommended that the technologist have experience in CT and/or other subspecialty area. Essential Functions: A. Performs CT procedures a. Initiate the scanning procedure at the proper anatomical level. b. Checks prescription/request, provisional diagnosis, hospital chart and patient identification. c. Explains the procedure to the patient, means of communication during scan and procedure to follow, if emergency arises during scanning procedure. d. Advises the patient of the possibility and/or necessity of an intravenous contrast injection and the precautions or contra indications involved with such an injection. e. Prepares room and equipment according to anatomical area to be scanned, per request and history. f. Selects correct computer protocol and initiate scan maintaining visual and/or audible communication with the patient during the scanning procedure. g. Operates Electronic Health record, scan equipment, contrast injectors and PACs systems B. Performs patient care in CT area a. Transfers the patient safely to the scanner couch, being especially cognizant of catheters, intravenous bottles, respiration aids, areas of recent trauma and patient level of consciousness or mental state. b. Immobilizes, packs and centers patient to scanner gantry at appropriate anatomical level. c. Prepares medium and patient for intravenous injection of contrast material in amount prescribed by radiologist. d. Monitors patient's condition during and post injection and must be aware of reaction and/or distress signals associated with the injection of contrast materials. e. Approaches and solicits the cooperation of the patient, seeking assistance as needed. Monitors scanner systems for program errors, correction of same or notification of repair facility. Other Duties: A. Prepares appropriate images and other material to be sent to referring physicians. B. Monitors scan equipment in order to avoid equipment failure. C. Performs "warm up" of scanner, including daily QA procedures D. Observes all appropriate radiation safety measures for patients and personnel. E. Take charge responsibility and act as the physician's assistant for bronchoscopies performed by the pulmonary and surgery physicians upon completion of both of those respective competencies. Essential Functions: * Assessment, treatment and monitoring of ventilator cases in both critical care areas and medical/surgery areas. * Performs Respiratory Therapy (RT) Protocol and assessment compliant with Respiratory Care standards of practice, policies and procedures. * Recognizes an emergency situation and initiates the proper plan of action. * Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to meet patient care requirements (changing shifts, necessary overtime, etc.) * Assists physician for bronchoscopy procedures upon completion of competency.
