Responsibilities
Prepare and perform MRI procedures to ensure high quality results.
Schedule appropriate time for each patient and regularly review requisitions received.
Prepare and administer opaque contrast media with 100% accuracy.
Process images within 30 minutes of examination completion.
Translate physician's orders into accurate radiographic procedures.
Maintain patient logs and equipment downtime records.
Collaborate with radiologists to develop effective imaging protocols.
Assume charge technologist responsibilities as needed.
Follow protocols for stat and emergency studies.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of supply needs.
Transport patients safely within the department.
Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.

Must possess a valid NJ State MRI License.

MRITechnologist
Under the supervision of a radiologist, the MRITechnologist performs a variety of magnetic resonance imaging procedures and scanners to produce detailed tissue images for medical diagnosis. Prepares pertinent information for physician and care team's review, and delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
Essential Functions
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
Processes and evaluates the technical quality of images, such as density contrast, definition and distortion.
Maintains critical positioning of the patient and equipment during flow of the contrast media to ensure safety of the patient and success of examination results.
Instructs patients on body positioning procedures during MRI exams and testing; demonstrates effective communications with all patients by explaining the MRI procedure both before and after scanning and answers all patient questions.
Determines equipment requirements for procedures based on the physician's tentative diagnoses, and scout films necessary for physician's preliminary viewing.
Maintains MRI equipment by performing scheduled cleaning, testing and documenting results; notifies supervision of malfunctioning equipment.
Implements MRI safety guidelines and conducts proper MRI safety during the imaging process.
Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.

includes:
Reviews patient's chart and/or physician order to determine optimal imaging parameters for suspected pathology.
Selects Proper Imaging Coil for study.
Performs imaging studies using proper scanning techniques and protocols.
Works with physicians to optimize MRI sequences to produce the highest quality MRI image.
Administers contrast media following MRI dept protocols.
Verifies pregnancy status, when appropriate.
Obtains MRI consent documentation when appropriate.
Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.
Documents diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate record.
Performs post-processing techniques to optimize imaging or study.
Draws up sterile contrast media and other solutions following hospital approved infection control guidelines.
Administers emergency care including performing CPR.
Performs MRI safety, screens patients for contraindication (i.e. foreign bodies, medical indications).
Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
On call assignments as needed per individual Hospital & Departmental policy.
Performs daily clerical duties, which includes the use of EMR, PACS, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital.
Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
Responsible at all times for maintaining MRI Safety Zones.
Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communication with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Performs specific daily and monthly QA.

Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
