Hazen & Sawyer is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer for our Birmingham, AL office. Candidate will provide electrical engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects, serving as lead electrical engineer when required. Candidate will support projects both local to and regional to the office, as well as supporting projects in other areas as requested by the firm.

Key Responsibilities:
Power systems design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor controls, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout and related activities at water and wastewater facilities
Prepare project specifications and edit corporate electrical master specifications as needed to suit each project
Serve as the lead electrical engineer on multiple concurrent projects. Ensure the work is performed in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget
Perform site visits as needed from project conceptual design through construction
Perform electrical design work in AutoCAD and/or Revit as required by the project
Perform electrical power system studies in SKM and/or ETAP as required by the project
Complete construction administration tasks including review of shop drawings, replies to requests for information, change order requests and similar tasks
Perform factory witness testing of electrical equipment as required by the project
Monitor and participate in the field testing and start-up of electrical systems
Represent the electrical discipline in client project meetings
Interaction with clients, contractors, and engineers from other disciplines
Serve as a technical mentor for less experienced electrical staff
Assist in business development activities such as proposal preparation
Develop scope and fee documents for electrical portions of projects
Fill the role of Project Manager for selected electrical projects.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
5-14 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial electrical engineering and design
Licensed as a registered professional engineer in at least one U.S. state.
Ability to be licensed in additional states at the request of the firm
Experience with SKM or ETAP power system software
Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit BIM software
Experience in Microsoft Office products
Strong communication skills allowing for successful interaction with clients, contractors, and other engineers
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the Water/Wastewater industry
Experience with Bluebeam software and Bluebeam Studio
Experience with instrumentation and control systems including instruments, operator interfaces, and PLCs

Manage a project of limited scope or assist a more senior engineer in a larger project. Receive oversight on assignments by a more senior engineer, but more in the form of concept review as opposed to task delineation and calculation checking.
Engineering Data Collection and Economic & Statistical Analysis
Apply knowledge of engineering economic analysis, statistics and organizing and data collection methods. Compare alternatives using appropriate economic analysis. Make engineering recommendations based on economic analysis. Assist in collecting engineering data. Analyze and present data. Direct the data gathering tasks of Engineers / Utility Designers 1 and 2.

Essential Responsibilities
Design standard jobs with guidance to match client specifications and requirements
Draft electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD in conjunction with our wiring teams
Gain design knowledge to engineer various control and relay panels
Work with your Supervisor and the Project Management team to help interpret project write-ups, client specifications, drawings, and other correspondence during the life of the project
Create and validate Bills of Materials for client submittal and approval per Powell Standards
Complete self-design reviews to verify accuracy and completeness of designs before issuing projects to Powell's manufacturing floor for construction
Gain the ability to provide technical support in client meetings
Coordinate with purchasing and suppliers to specify & approve component parts and assemblies
Provide prompt notification to supervisor and project management for issues that impact scope, budget, and schedule
Coordinate with the electrical design team for the final design and construction package to include schematics and wiring diagrams of the project
Create AC and DC schematics, door component layouts, wiring diagrams, and communication drawings for project approval, construction and As-Built's drawing submittals
Provide technical support as necessary for sales, application engineering, and inspection teams throughout the life of the project
Assist fellow production engineers in solving problems on a daily basis
Adhere to Powell's policies and procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations

Highly skilled position to design, program, and maintain automation systems that enhance operational efficiency, minimize manual intervention, and deliver unwavering reliability. In this critical role, you'll implement safe and compliant automation solutions, support SCADA systems, and collaborate with System Operations teams to maintain performance, security, and scalability. This position requires strong knowledge of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and Critical Energy/Electric Infrastructure Information (CEII). This position reports directly to System Operations Center Manager.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Resource Management: Ensures necessary resources are available for supervising and controlling the electric power grid, associated networks, and meeting regulatory requirements.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure SCADA systems comply with industry standards, cybersecurity requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
3. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and operational guides, to ensure accurate and consistent information.

The candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, which includes interacting with clients, manage electrical projects, and participate in new business development. In this role, your design delivery responsibilities will include conceptual design development, layout and selection of equipment, development of contract drawings using 2D and 3D design approaches, bid package preparation, field investigations, electrical and I&C design, and support during construction both in the office and in the field. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for building things, meeting new people, and desire to work with seasoned professionals who perform industrial, municipal, and other water/wastewater related work.
Primary responsibilities include:
* Serve as a project task manager, or perform as lead discipline (electrical and I&C) person on projects as appropriate.
* Scope and budget projects, identify method of project execution and coordinate staff assignments.
* Successfully manage and execute electrical design and be on time and on budget using company systems and tools.
* Support business opportunities and assist in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.).
* Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and request for information documents and general electrical design activities for plant and pump station power systems.
* Producing effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
* Collaborate with a national team of technical experts in the Electrical and I&C group.

* BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
* Professional Engineer registration or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
* Minimum of 10 years' experience as an Electrical Engineer working for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater industries preferred.
* Experience in electrical power systems design and specification, which include service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, grounding, power distribution and standby power equipment, and associated systems studies and calculations. Experience in power system analysis and modelling software such as SKM and ETAP a plus.
* Solid knowledge in the application of the National Electrical Code.
* Solid knowledge and understanding of electrical safety systems, NFPA 70E.
* Effective oral and written communication.
* Able to multi-task, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks graduate students as Teaching Associate applicants. Teaching Associates typically are responsible for providing classroom instruction. Eligibility is determined by successful TA eligibility, department eligibility and adequate funding.
The department is seeking TA applicants for sections of ECE1, ECE 85L, ECE 90L.
TAs will teach sections of ECE1, ECE 85L, ECE 90L the following semester and could have opportunities to teach other beginning courses in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign TAs to the courses that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes, courses offered may vary, and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made.

Teaching Associate is a student position for those actively enrolled in a graduate program at Fresno State.

Role Overview
As the Manager of Engineering at LCEC, you will lead efforts to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and long-term success of our electrical distribution system. This leadership role is ideal for an innovative professional dedicated to advancing energy solutions for our community.
Responsibilities
System Analysis and Strategy
Assess the performance of our electrical distribution infrastructure.
Design and implement a four-year maintenance and construction plan to optimize system operations.
Team Collaboration for Efficiency
Partner with the engineering team to analyze load flow, short circuit scenarios, and protective relaying schemes.
Oversee studies on voltage regulation, arc flash safety, and system coordination to enhance network performance.
Future Planning and Growth
Anticipate system demands and design strategies for infrastructure upgrades to support business expansion and increasing energy loads.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring:
A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Proven experience in the electrical utility industry.
Strong expertise in advanced mathematics, including trigonometry, calculus, algebra, and analytic geometry.
Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories equipment or similar systems (preferred).
Understanding of NERC and FERC regulations, with experience in SPP considered an asset.
Outstanding problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
A valid New Mexico driver's license and compliance with drug testing policies.
Work Schedule and Benefits

Work Setting:

Key Responsibilities:
Candidate will serve as the lead electrical engineer on projects for water and wastewater facilities.
Responsibilities include supervision of less experienced staff working on projects, and interaction with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
Qualified candidate should have knowledge in industrial power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout and related activities.
Candidate should have a good working knowledge of the NEC and related Codes.
Candidate must also have good communication skills, including interaction with clients and contractors.
AutoCAD experience is a must
Professional Engineering License is required.
5-10 years in electrical engineering and design and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Revit BIM software and SKM power systems software is desirable.
Experience with instrumentation and control systems is a plus, including field and panel instruments, operator interfaces, and PLCs.
