Quality/No Harm:
* Maintains patient safety at all times.
* Ensures compliance with precautions and documents all current precautions and changes in
status.
* Follows the plan of care and consults with the therapist when changes to the plan may be
indicated or when a progress note or reassessment is due.
* Provides patients with effective treatments that progress them towards their goals and documents
treatments according to applicable guidelines, standards and policies.
* Attends department meetings that take place during scheduled work hours; otherwise, reviews
and signs meeting minutes. Attends in-services given by other staff and students that take place
during scheduled work hours.
Customer Experience:
* Responds to therapy inquiries upon receipt.
* Reviews daily assignments/schedules with the team.
* Provides patients, families and staff with education regarding therapy services related to the
patients' needs.
Stewardship:
* Demonstrates financial responsibility by meeting patient scheduling requirements, ensuring
productivity targets are met, and utilizing their time, supplies and support staff responsibly.
* Prepares/reviews schedule for the next day.
* Issues charges that correspond to the services provided and the documented treatment times.
Work Experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
* Completion of a discipline appropriate degree from an accredited program/college.
* Current or Temporary Florida license.
* Interpersonal communications skills.
* Basic computer skills or willingness to learn.
* Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and
maintain.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Knowledge and use of proper lifting and body mechanics
* Must be able to assist in lifting, standing, and supporting patients.
* Able to bend and stoop as pt care requires.

Recent graduates from a Physical Therapy Assistant Program that are licensed in Alabama will be considered.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The assistant is a skilled, technical worker who performs physical therapy treatments and related duties as assigned by the therapist.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimal education requirements: Graduation from an accredited school for PhysicalTherapistAssistants.
Therapy Experience, Other:
No experience required but desired.
COVID vaccination is preferred for this position. However, an exemption will be entertained.
License:
Licensure by the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy.

Source of Supervision:
Staff PhysicalTherapist/Clinical Director
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses a great majority of physical motion in performing day to day activities of work. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and do a great deal of walking without experiencing extreme fatigue. Lifting and carrying equipment supplies, and materials up to 50 lbs. without help. over 50 lbs. with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel. Operation of electrical equipment.
Interpersonal Relationships:
1. Supervises Rehab Technicians.
2. Treats patients after the evaluation has been performed by a Registered PhysicalTherapist.
3. Participates in in-service training for clinical staff.
4. Consult with the physicaltherapist regarding the patients progress and plan of care.
5. Interacts with other departments involved with individual patients regarding patient's progress.
Responsibilities:
1. Adheres to the code of ethics of the APTA.
2. Reports to the Staff PhysicalTherapists/Clinical Director concerning Physical Therapy matters.
3. Carries out the physical therapy procedures according to the Plan of Care of the Registered PhysicalTherapist.
4. Covers instructions for home treatment programs through consultation with the Registered PhysicalTherapist.
5. Maintains proper equipment and supplies which might benefit the patient.
6. Maintains proper attitude of encouragement toward the patient without giving false hope.
7. Counsels patient and/or family on special problems with advice from the Registered PhysicalTherapist.
8. Helps the patient become physically, emotionally, and socially dependent.
9. Utilizes proper procedures which will be in keeping with good patient care, but reasonable in expense to the department, such as supplies. equipment, linens, and time usage.
10. Submit in writing to the Registered PhysicalTherapist/Supervisor on duty, any recorded incident or accident with patient or employee as it occurs.
11. Documents on all patients' treatments received according to the policies and procedures of the physical therapy department.
