Crown and bridge prosthesis and full denture fabrication will be performed on a limited basis as time and funds allow.
* Appropriately consult with dental specialists in managing complex oral surgical and prosthetic cases, providing postoperative or follow-up care when necessary, and adequately documenting all referrals and treatment in patients chart.
* Regularly prescribe and/or dispense appropriate medications to patients.
* Treat successfully a patient population which contains people who present actual or potential behavioral problems that require skills in patient handling.
* Very effectively direct, supervise and review the assigned dental staff including dental assistants, hygienists and dental custodian.
* Consistently maintain clinic patient charts in an appropriate, timely, and complete manner such that dental chart audits can be performed.
* Participate in the development and implementation of a quality improvement program, including the electronic dental record, protocols for the dental management of identified oral health problems, an internal dental audit mechanism.
* Participate in the development or review of the Dental Policy governing the operation of the clinic.
* Participate in the development and uses of the system by the clinic generate patient utilization data for purposes of program evaluation and reporting to PHS.
* In the absence of the Director, oversee all aspect of the physical operation of the clinic.
* Participate in regularly scheduled quality assurance reviews, as outlined in the Dental Policy of the clinic.
* Participate in a system of clinical practice/patient care evaluation, including assessments of the quality of inpatient and ambulatory health care services and/or internal practice audits.
* Take measures to correct his/her deficiencies found as a result of quality assurance reviews.
* Participate in developing and implementing systems to meet facility wide deficiencies found as a result of quality assurance reviews.
