Summary:
This job is responsible for the accurate interpretation via face to face, phone or video of health care information to and from Spanish-speaking patients/patient families and health care providers as well as other specialties involved in patient care.
Responsibilities:
Accurately interpretsmedical and health care information/instructions from physicians, nurses or other health care staff to Spanish-speaking patients/families in consecutive or simultaneous mode by following the National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care and department's established standards.
Assists in obtaining patients/families' signature where appropriate; and provides information regarding health care related cultural issues/needs of Spanish-speaking patients/families to hospital staff to develop sensitivity.
Manages and keeps accurate information for each encounter in the Language Access Services EPIC scheduling system.
Assists with varying departmental activities and projects as requested by department's leadership; and performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Provides occasional services outside of normal working hours on as-needed basis and/or for staff meetings and continuous education.
Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of this job.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

”, we are seeking professional and diverse, culturally competent, and credentialed medical InPerson Interpreters to join our skillful team to facilitate communication between healthcare providers and their patients, regardless of language or cultural barrier. InPerson Interpreter Responsibilities
Provide effective onsite interpreting service for consumers.
Always exhibit professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for shifts.
Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologies.
Pass screening before taking in-person commitments.
Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context (i.e., hospitals, courts, schools, etc.).
Respect for and understanding of our Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients, culture, dialect and beliefs and preferences as it relates to medical procedures.
Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting.
Spoken Language Minimum Qualifications
Fluent and have strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target language (i.e., Swahili-to-English or vice-a-versa).
Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI and NCIHC).
HIPAA Training for Business Associates certificate (completed within the last year)
