The Prototypes Women's Center in Oxnard offers residential substance abuse treatment and detox services tailored specifically for women, including those who wish to involve their children in their journey to recovery. Our program in Ventura County aims to assist women in maintaining their progress in overcoming co-occurring disorders through a wide range of supportive services. Children can foster a secure attachment with their mothers in a secure setting, while also accessing mental health support and educational assistance. The facility can accommodate up to 56 women and 28 children for treatment.
The Overnight SUD Counselor works closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal treatment outcomes for clients, aligning with HealthRIGHT 360's core values, mission, and vision. This position provides continuous oversight of clients and their children throughout the facility, ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured environment. The counselor will oversee various client activities, including chores, visitation hours, mealtimes, medication lines, detox processes, group sessions, donations, and free time, ensuring that all interactions are conducive to recovery and well-being. This role is crucial for maintaining a 24/7 coverage system, offering crisis intervention and stabilization when necessary. The Overnight SUD Counselor I will also provide compassionate support, guiding clients through moments of distress and ensuring they receive the proper care in alignment with individualized treatment plans.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Service

Lee Woodward Counseling Center for Women (LWCC) is an outpatient program that provides integrated substance use and mental health services for women who reside in San Francisco. Our counseling approach is trauma-informed, harm reduction and strengths-based. Services include individual, group and case management services as well as yoga, parenting support and childcare. Our goals are to provide a safe and respectful counseling space for women from all walks of life and to reduce the impact of substance use and mental health conditions that lead to healthy, meaningful lives.
The Substance Use Counselor II/III at LWCC works with an interdisciplinary team to provide substance use treatment, assessing client needs and strengths in support of health and recovery. The SUD Counselor provides individual, group counseling using evidence-based curricula in accordance with program specific requirements (Drug Medi-Cal) as well as case management to assist clients in navigating systems of care and connecting to community resources (e.g. vocational, primary care, housing).
Key Responsibilities
Individual Treatment Responsibilities:
May be required to carry a caseload of clients and facilitates weekly individual counseling sessions with each caseload participant.

Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience Required:

A valid California driver's license.
Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
Experience providing individual and group counseling.

Provides regular, comprehensive progress note charting in patient's Medical Record in accordance with JCAHO, State, County, and Agency standards, to include individual sessions, group participation, crisis intervention, etc.
Facilitates educational groups using approved curriculum according to program schedule.
Schedules and conducts regular 1:1 sessions with all assigned patients at least weekly or more often as appropriate or directed.
Performs conjoin/family sessions as needed.
Reviews all patient therapeutic writing assignments and provides assistance/feedback as needed.
Attends in-service training and educational workshops.
Administers waived tests (urine pregnancy test, blood glucose test, breath alcohol test, UA drug screen, hemoglobin [HbA1c], COVID 19 and flu A+B tests, and fentanyl urine screen) and maintains annual waived testing requirements/trainings.

Reviews Psychiatric evaluation, History and Physical, ASI Assessment, Family Assessment and any available/appropriate past Medical Records for this or other agencies.
Works closely with other multi-disciplinary team members to develop a comprehensive Individualized Treatment Plan on assigned patients and to ensure that all identified problems are addressed.
Facilitates and completes Initial Case Conference and Continuing Case Conference within time frame established by program policy.
Completes Integrated Summary on each assigned patient based on the need of the patient(s).
Provides crisis intervention on an as needed basis.

Facilitates discharge-planning efforts, commencing at time of admission on all assigned patients regarding after-care arrangements, educational needs, family relationships, housing and living arrangements, and legal problems affecting the youth.
Provides crisis intervention on an as needed basis.
Conduct community outreach monthly and attend community meetings as appropriate.
Must obtain and be cleared by LIVE SCAN to work with TTC Youth Clients.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION

High School Diploma or GED

Enrollment in academic Addictions Studies Program and completed a minimum of 80 hours of approved instruction or agree to complete hours within 6 months from date of hire.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUTH SERVICES
A minimum of five (2) years' experience in youth services including work with runaways, victims of abuse, and pregnant or parenting youth
Training to conduct urinalysis testing and analysis by qualified agency staff, a urinalysis testing organization, or County department.
Knows psychosocial developmental tasks, knows milestones of adolescent physiological development, is aware of family/generational influences on substance use issues, understands adolescent high-risk behaviors, is aware of legal issues surrounding adolescent treatment, demonstrates knowledge of mandatory reporting laws.
