**Qualifications**

Job Summary and Qualifications
What you will do in this Role: 1. The technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and adult patients. 2. Demonstrates competency in areas of general diagnostic radiography, use of digital equipment, knowledge of the PACS system, positioning, procedure preparation and technical factors. 3. Responsible for the proper use of RIS, Meditech (scheduling exams, patient tracking, image tracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges) 4. Understands and follows infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all job tasks. 5. Accommodates inpatients or requests for urgent exams as the need arises. 6. Observant for image artifacts; clean image detectors as necessary. 7. Possess the ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose an appropriate course of action. 8. Obtains patient history as needed; assists radiologist during procedures, helping to put the patient at ease. 9. Advises supervisor of any equipment issues requiring service. 10. Demonstrates ability to shut down radiologic equipment and/or reboot computers. Additional Job Roles: 1. May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. 2. May be called upon to physically witness waste and/or inventory controlled substances with another authorized individual. 3. **Job Summary of the PRN Radiology Technologist**
**Under the leadership of the Director and/or Manager of Imaging Services, this role provides technical assistance to all physicians working in the Surgical and Imaging departments with both diagnostic and interventional procedures. **Responsibilities of the PRN Radiology Technologist**

The Radiology Technologist II performs advanced diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. **Essential Functions**
+ Operates, monitors, and maintains radiographic/x-ray equipment during procedures, ensuring accurate and high-quality imaging.
+ Educates patients and families about pre-procedure, during-procedure, and post-procedure events and instructions, addressing questions to ensure understanding and comfort.
+ Assists management in providing in-service training on the use of radiology equipment and monitoring radiation safety practices within the lab.
+ Performs all assigned functions related to invasive imaging procedures as needed, ensuring compliance with safety and procedural standards.
+ Monitors patients' vital signs and pulses during procedures, relaying accurate information to the appropriate medical staff.
+ Maintains accurate patient records, including pre-procedure, during-procedure, and post-procedure documentation, as well as ensuring proper documentation of charges.
+ Ensures all required paperwork is signed, dated, and timed by physicians in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.
+ Checks all radiology equipment before use, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
+ Serves as a resource for the team by providing guidance, resolving conflicts, and accepting delegated authority as assigned.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

**Qualifications**
+ 2-4 years of clinical experience as a Radiologic Technologist required
+ 3-5 years of clinical experience in an Invasive Lab setting preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting advanced imaging equipment.
+ Strong knowledge of radiologic imaging techniques, patient positioning, and radiation safety.
+ Proficiency in operating radiographic equipment and troubleshooting technical issues.
+ Excellent patient-care and communication skills to ensure comfort and understanding of procedures.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize imaging abnormalities and artifacts.

+ Checks all equipment, ensuring proper functioning.
+ Facilitates resolution of conflicts or problems within the team.
+ Serves as resource person and accepts delegated authority as assigned.

**Qualifications**
+ Associate Degree graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology required

+ Utilizes radiation protection methods consistently and uses shielding as necessary.
+ Assesses patient lab values for contrast usage
+ Obtains patient history and collaborates with Radiologist on proper contrast usage
+ Uses PACS and digital readers to process procedures
+ Obtains and examines the procedure request for all necessary information for completion
+ Follows proper guidelines for image identification with film markers
+ Completes all procedures during the shift without interference to quality of work.
+ Responds to changes in the work schedule as necessary and show flexibility in job performance
+ Demonstrates competence in positioning, knowledge of exposure factors, restraint methods and routine imaging procedures
+ Demonstrates competence in all procedures in accordance with the department policy manual
+ Demonstrates ability to send images to offsite reading when needed
+ Demonstrates good judgement by following written and verbal instructions carefully
+ Assists physician as necessary for all invasive procedures to provide best patient care
+ Communicates necessary skill to interpret age specific treatment

+ Always verifies the procedure by checking the physician order

**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist
+ Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
+ Graduate of an accredited program in radiological technology
+ Certified in BLS from AHA or ARC
+ Ability to read and follow verbal and/or written instructions or procedures.
+ Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel and medical staff members.
+ Hospital experience (preferred)
