Assist with staff evaluations as requested. * Maintain and report on periodic progress documentation for each pupil and attend CSE, ITT, psychiatric rounding and other treatment meetings on each student at appropriate intervals during the school year. * Complete all required CSE and other paperwork (behavior tracking, RIAs, Notables, Community Contact Forms, parent notification documentation, etc...) in a timely and effective manner. * Implement behavioral support system, as approved by treatment team and consistent with Department of Education Regulations. * Utilize SCIP-R physical interventions on an emergency basis for the protection of staff and students. * Assure that accurate attendance records are maintained and are to be submitted appropriately prior to the completion of each month. * Submit monthly and/or quarterly reports to appropriate parties. * Maintain regular communication with each family and service provider for each student. * Contact each family for each use of an emergency intervention in the timeline consistent with agency policy and part 200 regulations. * Maintain weekly contact with all families to provide updates on academic and other progress and share important accomplishments of the student. * Attend school-specific and Agency-related staff and/or parent meetings as required. * Attend all professional development and staff meetings as required by supervisor. The goal of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is to enhance child and family well‑being by providing access and support to enable the strengthening of family protective factors inherent in its residents and community by building mutual community connections, capacity, and resilience. In partnership with FEC staff, families will drive the planning, development, and sustainable co‑ownership of the centers. Families who participate in the FEC programming will be encouraged to share their expertise by volunteering at the center and given meaningful opportunities to engage with neighbors and peers. The goal of the FEC is to strengthen families' protective factors and build community connections, capacity, and resilience. Position Summary The Family Advocate is responsible for contributing to the day‑to‑day operation of the FEC including building connections with other staff, residents, and community partners; co‑designing and delivering relevant programming and activities (offerings); providing advocacy and making referrals for participants; and creating a warm and inviting gathering place for families and individuals using the protective factors model to support community resilience. Responsibilities Coordinate meetings, provide support, and collaborate with a team of local parents, subject experts, and other residents to deliver monthly events and activities (offerings) held at the FEC. Foster a culture of respect built on the belief that families and communities possess the inherent strengths and knowledge needed to succeed given the right access to opportunities and support. Provide advocacy, outreach, and referrals to connect participants to service providers and other programs that have resources to offer. Engage groups of local community members of all ages and guide them through the co‑designed activities and programming of the FEC. Manage enrollment and attendance at offerings and events. Care for and attend to the physical space of the FEC program to ensure it is safe, welcoming, organized, and appealing to participants and community members. Handle inventory and ordering/purchasing responsibilities to keep the site running and ensure needed food and supplies are stocked for offerings. Effectively utilize tracking and reporting mechanisms and accurately enter data and run reports in the FEC website and other agency databases as needed to obtain program‑level data, compiling statistical or written reports for agency and external stakeholders. Manage the FEC website to communicate with and engage members. Use Appreciative Inquiry and other strength‑based tools to engage community members in co‑designing offerings. Create monthly calendars, website content, and other outreach tools to promote and document offerings. Participate and engage with the FEC team in learning collaboratives facilitated by ACS with other FEC teams from across the city. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional experience; or a high school diploma and five (5) years of professional experience in community-driven programs working directly with children, youth, and families. Reside in or near the FEC community, or reside close enough to arrive promptly, in the event of an emergency. Bi‑Lingual either /Mandarin &/or Cantonese is required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to warmly connect with and engage children, youth, and adults individually and in groups. Strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for committed and energetic Behavior Intervention Specialists (BIS) who will conduct, assess and develop behavior support plans, address challenges and train our QIDPs and Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in the Day Habilitation Program. This position is considered a “floater” role and must be able to travel to different QSAC's various locations throughout New York City and Long Island. The salary range for this position is $52,000-$60,000 annually. Monday to Friday Day Hours Job Responsibilities This position is considered a “floater” role and you must be able to travel to different QSAC's locations which are not all accessible by public transit. Personal vehicle is required for this position. Travel reimbursement for mileage and tolls is possible when applicable. Behavior Intervention, Assessments & Analysis Maintain coordination of active treatment services for people being supported in QSAC Day Habilitation programs in accordance with OPWDD regulations Develop/Monitor/Assess monthly goals and objectives to teach the valued outcomes outlined in Life Plans Write/Design and revise all individual goals and observe goals implementation by Direct Support (DSP) Professionals Maintain clinical paperwork as regulated by New York State (OPWDD) regulations Provide written goal summary for and participate in interdisciplinary meetings Review data collected and provide monthly updates on progress Track due dates for required documents and reports Assist with intake process which includes meetings, trial visits and clinical decision making Training & Support Provide training to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) on skills and techniques to support people with autism by implementing the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) Provide direct instruction for goal implementation and proactive and reactive strategies Assist with arrival and dismissal, fire drills and assist/support when typical staffing ratios are low Collaborate with program supervisors and help with staff disciplinary actions when necessary Ensure effective communication regarding behavioral issues of individuals Complete staff observations and provide feedback Participate and work as part of interdisciplinary team Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families. Set up meetings to resolve outstanding issues, as needed Be an advocate for improvement in to all facets of the program Treat all families with dignity and respect; allow for individual differences; provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring Qualifications and Work Experience Master's degree in one of the following human services professional fields (including, but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation, counseling or psychology) required 1-2 years' experience and training in applied behavior analysis (ABA) supports for people with autism highly preferred General knowledge of theories and principles of behavioral analysis, assessments and goal development preferred Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities/autism required Clean and valid Driver's license is required Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb items required Ability to run when needed Mission QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services.
