Outpatient physical therapist job at Hennepin Healthcare
We are currently seeking a casual PhysicalTherapist II to join our acute care/inpatient rehab team. This role will work at our hospital. Schedule includes 2 weekend shifts per months (minimum) and opportunity to pick up shifts on weekdays based on staffing needs. Prefer candidates with acute care experience.
Purpose of this position: In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Performs and documents comprehensive physical therapy evaluations.
* Develops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety
* Observes, evaluates, and documents patient's progress
* Participates in hospital rounds and patient care conferences
* Educates patients and care givers on therapeutic techniques, cares and treatments
* Completes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standards
* Directs and supervises activities performed by the Rehab aides consistent with their training and skill
(patient transfers, patient transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selected
treatment procedures, clerical duties and departmental maintenance)
* Directs and supervises selected physical therapy interventions performed by physicaltherapist
assistants
* Properly applies and operates rehabilitative equipment
* Assists with developing and conducting physical therapy in-services for other staff
* Orients and mentors newly assigned staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Graduation from an accredited school of physical therapy
* Up to 2 fulltime years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous clinical experience (rehabilitation/acute/trauma)
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
* Knowledge of policies/procedures and practice standards; physical therapy theory, techniques, and treatment, physical therapy and orthopedic
equipment; counseling and educational techniques; bandaging and wrapping techniques
* Ability to perform professional physical therapy techniques and treatment; calibrate and operate physical therapy and orthopedic equipment
* Ability to provide work direction for ancillary personnel
* Ability to counsel and instruct patients and families; ability to recognize and document patient progress
* Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the medical team
* Ability to interact with individuals of widely diverse lifestyles including ability to deal objectively with individuals whose attitudes and behaviors differ from his/her own;
* Ability to read and interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physicians' notes
* Ability to interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity (educate)
License/Certifications:
* Possession of valid Physical Therapy license, or temporary license, issued by the Minnesota State Board of Physical Therapy

Dependently Licensed: $70,000-$74,295.45/year

Essential Functions:
Provide direct clinical treatment using the I-FAST model and principles, including but not limited to leveraging strengths and focusing on the positive, understanding frames, patterns, and increasing mature behavior.
Conduct a thorough assessment of the client and family that gathers information on behaviors of concern and strengths in the family and their ecology to inform conceptualization of the problem behaviors and interactions within the family's ecological context.
Works with families to define cultural factors that influence strengths, functioning, and family behaviors to ensure ongoing engagement and success in care.
Provide individual and family psychotherapy services that support the identified needs.
Develop collaborative and creative partnerships with community resources to meet the needs of each family.
Continuously work to engage the primary caregiver, family members, supports, and community agency staff (school, probation, child welfare) in change-oriented treatment.
Dedicate time to weekly case planning and evaluation of case progress, with ongoing support from your supervisor and team members.
Receive regular training, professional development, supervision, and consultation activities designed to help you acquire extensive clinical skills within the I-FAST model.
Work collaboratively with the team to ensure that clients have access to support 24 hours/day, 7 days/week as needed.
Maintains necessary documentation, participates in program evaluation, attends team and program planning meetings, cross-systems training, and acquires knowledge of community resources.
Meets billing productivity requirements established by Integrated Services for Behavioral Health.

Summary
Assist patients in reaching maximum physical performance while adjusting to disabilities. Restores Patient Physical Functioning by interpreting physical therapy evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment goals and plans; administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and in using assistive and supportive devices.
