Key Responsibilities:
Ensures availability of sterile endoscopic equipment for surgeries, including retrieval, assembly, and specialized sterilization to meet surgical schedules.
Acts as a resource for operating endoscopic and audiovisual equipment; performs inspections, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Coordinates equipment readiness for procedures by providing substitutions and responding to technical assistance requests.
Manages ordering and restocking of endoscopic supplies based on par levels, including receiving, verifying, and distributing inventory.
Oversees proper storage and rotation of supplies, ensuring labeling and packaging meet standards.
Maintains detailed records of inventory, purchasing, equipment repairs, and expenses; reconciles budget variances and supports budget planning.
Processes billing invoices and payment requisitions while addressing related inquiries and vendor issues.
Contributes to evaluation and implementation of new equipment and supplies; serves on relevant committees or project teams.

decontamination, HLD and sterilization capital equipment. Instruments, trays
and pans are assembled, processed, and distributed to 35 O.R Suites, AFC units,
and clinics. These instruments, trays, and pans are tracked by Getinge s T-DOC
bar code system.
MACHINES
AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Sterilizers, heat sealers, ultrasonic washer, aerator, utensil washer, cart
wash, steris units, hand and power tools, calibration instruments, repair
equipment and parts.
Responsibilities:
Inspects, assembles, packages and sterilizes surgical instrument
pans, procedural trays, technical equipment, and surgical case carts:
selects method of packaging and sterilization consulting with Processing
Manager as needed, examines surgical instrumentation for cleanliness and
proper assembly and function; assembles instrument sets ensuring
appropriate number and type of instrument per ESI software program
protocols; handles instruments appropriately to ensure sterilization;
completes count/supply sheets to document contents of tray; follows
established procedures to package/wrap trays/instruments to guarantee
sterilization.
Operates steam sterilizers in accordance with established
procedures; checks time, pressure and temperature gauges frequently to
attain and maintain proper levels; loads and unloads sterilizers and
places items on shelves for distribution. Performs simple
maintenance of sterilizers such as cleaning drain baskets. Assures
sterility is achieved by preparing cultures, reviewing test packs
processed, interprets the results and completes required documentation.
Checks and adjusts medical equipment according to specific
procedures to insure instruments and equipment are operating according to
specifications prior to issuing. Sends all equipment not meeting
specifications to appropriate area for repair.
Decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment following
established procedures; prevents cross-contamination per established
procedures. Sets up decontamination equipment for operation, cleans and
disinfects equipment and work area upon completion of shift, and handles
infectious waste and linen according to established protocol to ensure
continuous workflow and compliance with department, legal, and regulatory
standards.
Receives and stores supplies from outside vendors and Hospital
areas; checks stock as it is received against requisitions; documents
stock received and reports discrepancies; assists in maintaining par
levels of inventory. Documents and fills orders for surgical supplies for
patient care areas; delivers supplies when warranted. Maintains records of
equipment inventory use, frequency of servicing and equipment not meeting
specifications that are referred for repair.
Responsible for quality assurance on all sterile supplies and
instruments. Performs daily quality assurance checks on stock levels,
sterility dates, and accuracy of procedure carts. Responsible for critical
documentation such as biologicals and sterilizer load sheets.

Tool Room NAMP Programs: The Contractor shall be responsible for the Tool Control Program (acting as Tool Control Program Coordinator), Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) Program, Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL) Program Coordinator, Support Equipment (SE) PMS Program and work center management IAW CNAF Instruction 4790.2.
Issue/Receive Tools, Equipment and Hazardous Material/Waste: The Contractor shall Order/Issue/Receive tools, inventory and maintain tools, and issue/receive/properly handle hazardous materials/waste per activity's Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and local governing directives.
Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Repairs, periodic maintenance and calibration of all Support Equipment (SE), IMRL, and calibration-required tools or GFE shall be performed at the appropriate level of maintenance. Material Control Services: The Contractor shall perform administrative duties in support of the units Material Control division. The Government will maintain overall responsibility and management of the Material Control Division to include execution of activity's Operational Target (OPTAR) and Aviation Fleet Maintenance (AFM) funding requirements. Contractor's support of the Material Control Division requirements includes:
Manage Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) and Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL) Program requirements
Perform Tool Control Coordinator requirements
Order and receive aircraft parts and material.
Expediting repairable and consumable material requisitions through the supply system and informing Maintenance Control on status changes
Track and reconcile daily fuel expenditures
Prepare Transmittal Listings as required by TYCOM
Perform monthly and end of fiscal year financial close-out of fuel and flight gear expenditures

**Education Qualifications:**

+ **Problem-Solving:** The ability to troubleshoot issues with equipment and adapt to changing protocols is important.
+ **Reliability:** Maintaining reliable and consistent attendance is a key requirement in this critical healthcare support role.
+ Key Physical Requirements:
+ **Standing and Walking:** The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often during an entire 8-hour shift or longer.
+ **Lifting and Carrying:** Technicians must frequently lift and carry items of varying weights.
+ Routine lifting of up to **25 pounds** is common.
+ Occasional lifting of up to **50 pounds** may be required.
+ Instrument trays and sets are often subject to a maximum weight standard (commonly 25 lbs, per professional guidelines from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)).
