Responsibilities * Leads a team and works safely following all related policies and programs to ensure a safe working environment while accepting feedback from others and giving appropriate recognition to others. * Responsible for correct reporting of time, production and material usage. * Set-up of the machine including preparing materials, prints and mounting cylinders. * Use of computer equipment to enter information relating to the production run including job information, measurements etc. * Perform quality checks. * Report irregularities, maintenance needs and quality problems to the team Supervisor and/or Production Manager. * Assists the machine crew in running, changing over, starting up and cleaning up the machine. * Checks raw materials on hand against what is needed for each production run to ensure shortages are prevented. * Using a ruler, verify dimensions on material to ensure a quality product. * The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. * Troubleshoot machine issues and make recommendations on improving processes. * Keeps work area clean and orderly. * Written and oral communication skills is required. * Other job tasks and projects as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position will supervise a small team as assigned. These responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work to be completed. Machine Operator has the ability to run multiple machines effectively and efficiently on a continuous basis and can identify problems during the production run, position work pieces, and inspect parts on a daily basis using various types of inspection equipment. Job Function: Performs required operations on EDM machines, including loading and unloading of parts, part inspection, electrode preparation and changing; Cleans and performs preventive maintenance and minor adjustments of assigned equipment; Prepares various logs and records to document machine operation and daily production; Enters required data into computer; Moves/transports parts to appropriate location as needed; Maintains safe, clean and orderly work areas; Receives, reviews, and /or refers to various records or reports including travelers, SOP, shift reports, safety sheets, etc.; Prepares labor sheets and non-conformance forms; Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals including the immediate supervisor, co-workers, and other shop personnel; Operates EDM machine, grinders, micrometers, gauges, various power tools, computer, etc.; Performs related duties as required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Support machine operation by assisting with the setup of orders according to customer specifications, following order readiness process of efficiently preparing the right tools to complete the job. * Assist machine operators during quality checks by inspecting a first article, and articles throughout the order to identify issues, ensuring quality product, along with monitoring equipment and raw materials. * Support the operator in monitoring production metrics to accurately track progress of production rates, quality, maintenance needs, and downtime. * Proactively communicate issues with equipment to appropriate leaders, and assist with trouble shooting, and problem solving to maximize overall equipment efficiency and minimize downtime. * Intermittently assist with minor repairs to equipment in partnership with maintenance team. * Maintain a clean and organized work area by following post order cleaning process. * Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined for the machine center. * Other duties, as assigned. Module Facer Operator REPORTS TO: Supervisor Responsible for all activities associated with running the single-facer and assisting in wet-end and dry-end operations, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operate the single-facers to produce the highest level of production and quality. Check wet end line-ups to verify correct roll stock is received and used. Put rolls of paper in mill roll stands ensuring proper size and grade of paper to be run and make splices and paper changes as necessary. Trim only the necessary amount of paper from the rolls when preparing for splices. Remove roll stock from the machine when necessary and mark the proper size, grade, diameter and lineal footage on the roll and place core plugs in each end of the butt rolls. Continuously monitor the board during runs to ensure quality and make adjustments as necessary. Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Clean starch pan, glue roll and singlefacer area after changing flutes and at the end of the production week. Take all paper off of cores of stub rolls. Assist in the wet end training of the Doublebacker and dry end personnel. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping. Additional duties may be assigned by management. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED. Prior work experience in the corrugated industry. 6 months experience on the dry end of the corrugator. 6 months experience as a Doublebacker Operator. Eligible to bid for this position under the present labor/management agreement or have current work-related experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
