SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The Residential Hospice Aide is a paraprofessional member of the Interdisciplinary Group who works under the supervision of an RN. The Hospice Aide performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs, promote comfort, and enable the patient to live in a comfortable environment. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Primary Duties * Performs personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attends to their requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the RN or designee immediately. * Meets safety needs of patient and uses equipment and supplies safely and properly (footstools, side rails, O2, whirlpool, etc.) * Provides or assists patients in all aspects of personal care, including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, changing bed linen as part of the Plan of Care. * Assists in dressing and undressing and feeding the patient as assigned. * Plans and prepares nutritious meals, including laundry and other household tasks, which are part of the Plan of Care. * Takes and records oral and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered (within the training limitations of the aide). * Provides proper care and observation of patient's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue over bony prominences. * Reports on patient's condition and significant changes to the appropriate Interdisciplinary Group member. * Assists in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the RN or Therapist. * Offers and assists with bedpans and urinals.
