Clinical Intern STATUS: Intern GRADE: DEPT/PROGRAM NAME: SVSS Reports To: Clinical Program Coordinator SUPERVISES: N/A The YWCA Metropolitan Chicago is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. The Clinical Program-Chicago is part of the Sexual Violence Support Services (SVSS) of the YWCA. The Clinical Program-Chicago provides crisis counseling and short and longer-term individual, family, and group therapy to survivors of sexual abuse and their non-offending significant others ages 3+. The program operates out of our Medical District Center located in Chicago, Illinois. All services are confidential and free to clients. The program accepts interns from Master's level Social Work, Counseling, and Art Therapy programs (second or final year only). The Clinical Program-Chicago strives to have a culturally and ethnically diverse professional staff to best meet the needs of clients. Ideal candidates should be aware of cultural considerations and enjoy working with adults, children and families. Counseling services are available in English and Spanish; therefore, bilingual Spanish-speaking interns are highly encouraged to apply. A stipend for completion of a full academic year internship will be offered to interns.

ESSENTIAL responsibilities:
* Manage a caseload of 6-8 individual cases (dependent on waitlist) and co-facilitate at least 1 therapy groups and/or client workshops.
* Provide information, referrals, and case management support.
* Support Clinical Program Specialist with intakes and maintaining the waitlist.
* Input clinical data into program databases while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
* Participate in monthly program and administrative team meetings.
* Participate in case consultations and present at least one case during the internship.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Develop trauma-informed and victim/client-centered clinical skills.
* Learn relational/psychodynamic and trauma therapy approaches and explore other treatment models.
* Access to YWCA's clinical training library and reading materials.

* Commitment to internship from mid-August to end of June.
* Commitment to a minimum of 20 hours/week with two weekday evenings; Fridays 9-2:30pm required, and Saturdays optional.
* Participate in weekly 1.5-hour individual reflective supervision conducted by a licensed clinician and monthly 1-hour intern group supervision.
* Willingness to travel to no more than two sites (primarily based at our Medical District office at 1340 S. Damen Avenue).
* Ability to work independently with ongoing supervision by licensed clinicians.
* Bilingual Spanish-speaking interns are highly encouraged to apply.

Although the crisis worker will be based out of C4s North Ave office (2542 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647), at least 80% of the services provided will be in Chicago's north and west neighborhoods as well as northern suburban communities. As appropriate, for the duration of the pandemic, services may be offered remotely with utilization of HIPAA compliant telehealth related software. Purpose:

Location and Work Conditions:
Although the crisis worker will be based out of C4s North Ave office (2542 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647), at least 80% of the services provided will be in Chicago's north and west neighborhoods as well as northern suburban communities. As appropriate, for the duration of the pandemic, services may be offered remotely with utilization of HIPAA compliant telehealth related software. Work may be stressful due to consumers presentations, acuity of symptoms, interaction with state and local community systems, periods of high call volume, and/or tight deadlines. The crisis worker must be willing to work certain weekends, some night or overnight shifts, and occasional holidays.

Provide billable Medicaid services to all assigned clients/residents at a minimum of 26 direct service hours per week.
Complete all necessary service planning as required by rule 132
Identify and address gaps in the service provision
Assure the participation of team members, the individual, the guardian, the family and necessary professionals.
Provide psycho-educational services to family members of assigned clientele
Assure that the services specified in the services paln are being provided
Facilitate individual linkages and transfers
Qualifications
This position requires a minimum:
Master Degree in Social Work/Psychology or an appropriate human service field
Minimum of two years exp in the human service field
Proficient in MS Office programs
Ability to problem solve and work effectively with people
Knowledge of Community Mental Health , Rule 132, and the Department of Mental Health
Sensitivity to multi-cultural differences
Ability to relate well to people of all socioeconomic groups
