This salary exempt position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Safety. Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the facility health and safety program. This will include, but is not limited to, training, sampling, monitoring, site inspections, accident investigations, accident prevention, liaison with governmental agencies, record keeping, workmen's compensation, recommendations for continual improvement and reporting. Responsibilities: Review and interpret health, safety and environmental laws, rules and regulations Development, implementation and monitoring of, but not limited to, the following training: new miner, newly hired experienced miner, task, annual refresher and hazard communication Development, implementation and monitoring of site inspections and corrective action programs. Must coordinate team efforts to solve problems and implement required actions. Must maintain appropriate administrative documentation for these programs Coordination of accident investigations and accident reports. This individual will implement DPR's environmental health and safety plan (EHSP) and related programs at assigned construction project/business unit. The Korte Company is seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) willing to travel up to 100% for commercial/government construction projects to maintain safety for every aspect of the project. Safety is critical to the success of our construction projects and this position will be the key person responsible for adherence to our safety standards. The ideal candidate will provide proactive, visible leadership in developing the safety culture on the project site. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conduct and document daily safety and health inspections Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports Maintain safety reference materials on the jobsite Attend all preparatory and periodic in-progress meetings Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements and inspections Conduct new employee safety orientation Lead on-site safety meetings and toolbox talks Perform project hazard analysis and maintain hazard communication programs Verify safety training of all workers Traveling/relocation will be required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The characteristics listed below are representative of those sought to perform this job successfully. 30 hour OSHA certification training within last 5 years Proof of 8 hours or more of formal safety training each year for the last 5 years must be able to provide dates and hours First Aid and CPR certified 24 hour Competent Person for Fall Protection training that complies with EM 385-1-1 section 21 (Current within 2 years) Certificate of training on the following: Excavations Scaffolding Fall protection Hazardous energy Confined space Health Hazard recognition Personal Protective Equipment Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, multi-tasking, communication and conflict management skills Computer knowledge in sending emails, daily reports, construction look-ahead schedules, and iPad use Strong work ethic with a passion to fulfill commitments Remarkable enthusiasm Sincere obligation to client satisfaction The ability to speak Spanish is a plus EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE Qualified applicants will have: Corp of Engineers EM 385-1-1 experience 5 years of experience on similar construction projects - must be able to provide dates and descriptions of previous projects including dollar amounts Experience on large ground-up; DOD/USACE; vertical projects of 15M+ preferred BCSP certification as a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred. Summary The Field Safety Representative II promotes the Company's IIF culture by ensuring every co-worker returns home safety every night. Is expected to spend 100% of time in the field observing and coaching co-workers on correction of unsafe conditions and behaviors. May supervise lower level Field Safety Representatives and Coordinators. Reinforces positive behavior through recognition and/or rewards. Serves as a resource to co-workers by answering questions about safety and sharing lessons learned.
