WHAT YOU'LL DO
Utilize CAD software (e.g., Microstation including InRoads and OpenRoads) to create detailed drawings, maps, and plans.
Collaborate with surveyors and engineers to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings and plans.
Support engineers in completing quantity calculations and takeoffs.
Maintain organized records of drawings and project files for future reference and revisions.
Adhere to quality control standards on drawings to ensure adherence to company standards and project requirements.
Stay updated on CAD software advancements and industry best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Communicate regularly with project managers and design engineers.
Work on several projects concurrently.
WHAT YOU NEED
Minimum 2+ years experience
Proficiency in Microstation InRoads, OpenRoads, Excel, and Word. AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus, but not required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret survey data and specifications.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with surveyors, engineers, and other team members.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
Knowledge of transportation cad drafting principles and practices is required.

Work with the project engineer to prepare site plans for land development projects.
Collect data from engineers and use the information to create construction documents, schematics, and exhibits.
Utilize prior design experience to proactively address potential design issues.
Help the team develop and refine design and drafting standards for projects.
Practice efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selection.
Work closely with other engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
Design will be primarily within AutoCAD Civil 3D with an emphasis on road layout, mass site grading, earthwork takeoffs, and erosion and sediment control plans.
Demonstrate a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Effectively communicate and interact with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Interact & communicate effectively with others including consulting firms partnering with HWC, INDOT staff, local government agency staff and HWC staff.
WHAT YOU NEED
Associates' degree in Design Technology/CAD
5+ years of working experience
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Basic understanding of civil engineering design practices a plus.
Must be organized and schedule driven to work on multiple projects in various stages of design.
Ability to think critically, manage time and problem solve.
Complete competence working well independently and on a team.

The Designer/Detailer (Structural and Misc. Steel) plays a crucial role in translating the design intent into detailed, accurate drawings and models that guide the fabrication, erection, and construction of steel structures.
