As a key member of our Indianapolis planning studio, we are looking for an individual who will be responsible for: Leading public participation experiences to identify needs, inspire our clients and facilitate collaboration. High quality writing to convey planning concepts to the public. Preparing action plans that will lead to results. Using graphic design to make planning documents easy to understand and utilize. HWC delivers plans through a multi-disciplinary team of professionals so that our plans are visionary, technically sound and market driven. Our planning studio consists of planners, landscape architects, engineers, and economic development professionals. Each brings unique perspective and skills and has led to HWC's reputation for leading plans that get results. Services provided include comprehensive plans, economic development plans, park and recreation plans, thoroughfare plans, downtown plans, corridor plans and regional plans. WHAT YOU'LL DO Lead background research, analysis, and GIS mapping to support project planning Facilitate public participation activities to identify issues, opportunities, and priorities. Collaborate to recommend strategies to address needs and promote economic and community development. Travel to and facilitate public and steering committee meetings across the state of Indiana, including evening meetings. Lead interim and final planning documents including writing, mapping, and graphic design. Interact effectively with others including elected officials, local government staff, steering committee members, consulting firms partnering with HWC, and HWC staff. WHAT YOU NEED Bachelor's degree in planning, urban design, public policy, landscape architecture or a related field. 6+ years of professional experience preparing long range community plans such as comprehensive plans, thoroughfare plans, or district plans. AICP Certification is preferred. Excellent graphic design skills. Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with ArcGIS. Excellent communication and writing skills. Ability to think critically, manage time and problem solve. Strong data analysis and organizational skills. Reliable transportation. Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
