Backend Software Engineer
Ketch 4.0
San Francisco, CA jobs
We're rebuilding the internet's data layer for the AI era. Ketch runs systems that analyze billions of events and make millions of decisions every day, giving global brands real‑time intelligence and control over how data moves across their entire ecosystem. This requires infrastructure that can keep up with the speed, volume, and complexity of modern AI‑driven systems and deliver high‑integrity outcomes across billions of data interactions.
We're a well‑funded Series B startup, backed by top‑tier investors and led by a team with multiple exits. We build fast, ship with ownership, and work directly with customers to solve their hardest data challenges.
Why Us?
The AI era is breaking every old assumption about data protection. Sensitive data moves faster, through more systems, with higher stakes. Traditional privacy and governance tools can't keep up. You'll help build the infrastructure that replaces them.
Join us to engineer real‑time systems that actively safeguard personal data at massive scale. You'll design pipelines that classify and control data as it flows, services that react instantly to risk, and distributed systems that enforce user rights across hundreds of technologies. Your work ensures that companies can use data responsibly and that individuals retain control over how their data is collected and used.
Role Overview
As a Backend Engineer at Ketch, you'll build reliable, scalable systems that make sense of messy, high‑stakes data flowing through databases, pipelines, SaaS tools, websites, and mobile apps. You'll build Go microservices that connect across an organization's entire stack, design APIs that support real‑time governance decisions, and help construct pipelines that classify and route data with speed, accuracy, and resilience.
This is backend engineering where correctness matters, latency matters, and scale is real. You'll help create the APIs and data engines that support automated governance, power agentic intelligence, and enable companies to act on insights across their data ecosystem.
This is a hybrid role based out of the San Francisco HQ 3 days a week.
What You'll Own
Build and evolve high‑performance Go microservices that process distributed data flows and support real‑time decisions.
Develop clean, well‑versioned APIs and backend systems that orchestrate permissions, data directives, and automated actions across external systems.
Design and implement distributed pipelines and event‑driven architectures that transform structured/unstructured data and feed downstream intelligence.
Own the full lifecycle: design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, iteration.
Apply resilience patterns (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers) to keep systems predictable under real‑world load.
Drive performance improvements through concurrency tuning and efficient CPU/memory usage.
Champion strong engineering foundations: CI/CD, testing, load evaluation, secure cloud deployment.
Contribute to future architecture decisions such as service boundaries, data models, queue/stream strategy, and AI integration points.
Collaborate with product and customers to translate requirements into elegant, scalable system designs.
What We're Looking For
Strong backend engineering foundation in Go or similar languages.
Experience building APIs, distributed systems, or microservices in cloud‑native environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Familiarity with databases/storage: Postgres, DynamoDB, ScyllaDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.
Understanding of distributed‑systems fundamentals: concurrency, queues/streams, transactions, event‑driven patterns.
Experience with gRPC, REST, and service‑to‑service communication.
Comfort with Kubernetes, containers, and core operational concerns (security, networking, resource management).
Interest in modern AI/data tools (LLM APIs, embeddings, retrieval).
Strong collaboration, curiosity, and a drive to build systems that quietly “just work” at massive scale.
Degree in CS or equivalent practical experience building production systems.
$160,000 - $200,000 a year
The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $200,000, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs

Founded with the mission of making AI computing accessible to all, our flexible, affordable GPU solutions power everyone from builders to enterprises.
We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you'll help build the services and systems that unlock the full potential of our infrastructure for customers building advanced AI products. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure across the stack-contributing to systems that are high-impact, high-scale, and built for reliability.
As an early team member, you'll have the opportunity to grow with the company while learning from a high-performance team that values ownership, simplicity, and long-term thinking.
What You'll Do
Contribute to building the core infrastructure and services that power AI workloads at scale
Help design and implement features that make it easier for customers to run AI systems
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
Debug and resolve issues in production systems with guidance from senior teammates
Collaborate closely with engineers across hardware, infrastructure, and platform teams
Learn and grow within a high-performing team that values mentorship and shared ownership
Who You Are
1-3+ years of experience developing software in production environments
Strong programming fundamentals and proficiency in at least one language (e.g., Go, Python, Rust)
Eager to take on challenging problems and learn new technologies
Comfortable with ambiguity and excited to contribute to a fast-paced, early-stage team
Collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ideal Experiences (Nice-to-Have)
Exposure to cloud infrastructure, containerization, or orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure, GPU compute, or distributed systems
Experience with AWS or other major cloud platforms
Strong interest in performance, reliability, or system-level debugging
*Please note: this is an in-office role. You must be based in or willing to relocate to either the San Francisco Bay Area or the Greater Seattle Area.
Voltage Park Team Culture
You are ambitious and always looking for ways to improve. We operate nearly $1B worth of assets, and the opportunity for impact is limitless. This role will give you the most responsibilities you've ever had
and
hold you to higher standards than other companies you've worked at. Expect to do the best and most impactful work of your career at Voltage Park.
You're focused on impact and don't get lost in the weeds on details that don't matter. You're excited to work on whatever solves the biggest customer problems, not just the coolest technical challenges. You understand when making 80/20 trade-offs is the right thing to do, and never compromise on your high standards when making those trade-offs.
You have a strong work ethic. As a startup, we are trying to change the world and take on many large, $B+ competitors. Raw hours make a huge difference when facing overwhelming odds. Having a strong work ethic is a competitive advantage.
You take ownership of your initiatives. When you say you'll do something, you get it done without anyone having to check in on you. You ship fully baked features end-to-end. You're accountable for the deadlines you set, and you figure out a solution if something unexpected occurs.
You make tradeoffs when necessary and are open to new ideas. As a startup, we have to make decisions quickly and often with incomplete information. We also face problems that have no obvious solutions. Sometimes, the best ideas sound crazy at first. You don't dismiss your teammate's ideas and are open to being challenged by others.
Voltage Park is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions on the basis of merit. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic under federal, state, or local law.
