2nd Shift Material Handler - Distribution Location: Solon, OH Shift: 2nd Shift, 3:00pm - 11:00pm Employment Type: Full-time ️ About the Role We are seeking a reliable and motivated Material Handler to join our distribution team on 2nd shift. This role is critical to ensuring products move efficiently through our facility and reach customers on time. You'll be responsible for handling, moving, and organizing materials while maintaining accuracy and safety standards. Key Responsibilities * Responsible for working with the Distribution Supervisor to determine the start of the shift priorities. * Will aid in the racking of all inbound freight from our outside vendors and products manufactured in house. * Will assist all other areas of the warehouse if needed (picking orders, cleaning, rework, etc.) * Ability to operate equipment requiring specialized knowledge of processes. * Responsible for safe and efficient manual organization of items onto skids. * Completes necessary requirements to fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently. * Assist in finished goods inventory as required. Qualifications * High School Diploma/GED preferred. * 2 years of prior shipping experience is required with direct experience in hazardous material for air/ocean freight shipments preferred. * Must be experienced in driving powered industrial trucks (PIT) * Must be able to understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions. * Must recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. * Must read and write English and perform simple math calculations (additions, subtractions, multiplications, divisions). * Must be computer literate. The Material Handler is responsible for the movement of material throughout the site. This may include loading/unloading of trailers and movement of raw materials, work in process, and finished goods. In this role, you will work Building 3, D Team, 5:50PM - 6:00AM, 12 Hours, 1-3-3. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: Activities and duties may vary dependent upon site specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: * Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finished, Shipping, Receiving, and manufacturing areas. * Unload/load trucks/tankers with incoming/outgoing materials. - Verify materials against receiving/shipping documents. * Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System. * Support inventory accuracy: * Complete warehouse and departmental cycles counts and correct discrepancies * Help manage winding drum and rack inventories * Raw/Finishing warehouse: * Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets, and other consumable supplies to/from production areas as required. * Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping * Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately. * Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity. * Maintain a safe, clean work area. * Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed. * Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations. * Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard, and scrap materials. * Support all 5S housekeeping activities. * Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Distributing and/or storing items per department guidelines and specifications. Accurately processing and maintaining all related documentation, both via PC and handwritten. Utilizing appropriate material handling equipment to load and/or unload truckload carriers as per specifications. Preparing orders for shipment according to instructions and specifications, including pallet labeling, consolidation, or stretch wrapping. Maintaining inventory as per department guidelines. Responding to all inter-company requests for materials and material counts, serving as a resource for team members and others in resolving related issues and problems. As a member of a production support team, training, assisting, and supporting other team members in problem-solving and achieving department goals. Continuously reviewing current processes and seeking improvement methods to enhance product/process quality, reduce waste, rework, and unnecessary work that does not add value. Performing general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within the department/group and assisting other areas as required. Assisting and supporting in other job functions within the process or other company processes within scope and ability, based on business needs. Qualifications To excel in this position, candidates should possess: A High School Diploma or GED. Demonstrated proficiency in performing basic math calculations, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Legible handwriting. Good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel. The ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions. Good judgment and decision-making ability. The ability to continuously stand and/or sit, stretch, reach, stoop, and bend. Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Inventory Control systems databases and storage locator systems. Demonstrated skill and safety in using material handling equipment such as Order Picker, Swing Reach, Fork Lift, Hand Trucks, Pallet Trucks, and Clamp Truck. Must be able to obtain a Material Handling License. The ability to work at varying heights. Must be safety-conscious and alert to safety hazards. The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. and occasionally 100 lbs. with mechanical assistance or the help of another employee. (Incumbent maneuvers up to 2000 lbs. using appropriate material handling equipment.)
