Duties:Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: SpeechPathologists often work with individuals who experience voice disorders such as harsh voice or inappropriate pitch or who are unable to understand language. They are responsible for completing administrative tasks including documenting billing information and keeping accurate records of initial evaluations, diagnoses, treatment progress and any treatment plan notes. In addition, they are responsible for: • Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty • Identifying treatment options • Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs 2 • Teaching patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency • Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language • Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow • Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders • SpeechPathologists focus on the following areas: o Child language disorders: Helping children who have trouble forming words and speaking appropriately for their age. o Fluency disorders: Specialize in fluency disorders help those who suffer from stuttering or similar speech challenges. o Swallowing disorders: Specializes in swallowing disorders helps those who have trouble swallowing.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: SpeechPathologists need a minimum of a master's degree supervised clinical experience and passing exams. While master's degree programs don't require specific undergraduate degrees for admission, certain coursework is often required to be completed prior to entering a program. The Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) which is part of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is responsible for accrediting educational programs in speech-language pathology. Certification and state licensure require candidates to graduate from an accredited program. SpeechPathologists can also earn the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) administered by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Certification usually satisfies many state licensure requirements and is required by some employers. In order to obtain CCC-SLP certification, applying candidates must have a degree from an accredited program, successfully pass an exam and complete a fellowship while being supervised by a certified SpeechPathologist. An additional 30 hours of continuing education is required every three years in order for SpeechPathologists to maintain their CCC-SLP credentials.

Responsibilities

Caseload consists of patients requiring language, communication, and swallowing interventions

Day shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 8 hours per day
Weekend coverage required every 4 to 6 weekends and holiday coverage as needed
No on-call responsibilities
Responsible for direct patient care, contributing to patient assessments, and developing comprehensive care plans
Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes
Orientation includes 8 non-billable hours
Must adhere to a maximum of 5 days of requested time off; additional requests after submission will not be approved
Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered
Holiday coverage is required as needed
Must provide recent work history, a relevant skills checklist, and one supervisory reference from the past two years for consideration

Responsibilities
Hospital acute care setting with a focus on complex cases
Manages patients with head and neck cancer, tracheostomy, and dysphagia
Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, 40-hour day shift schedule
Level 1 trauma hospital experience required
Responsible for evaluating and treating patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders
Develops individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and progress
Collaborates effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
Adheres to strict confidentiality and protocols regarding sensitive information
Must set priorities and manage workload efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Requirements
Active MA State SLP license required at time of consideration
ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) required
Current CPR certification required
Minimum 5 years SLP experience with acute care and complex cases

Excellent English oral and written communication skills
Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus
Basic computer proficiency including MS Office

Epic EMR is used for documentation
Primary duties include evaluating and treating adults for swallowing, cognitive, and speech/language disorders following oncology treatment
The SLP will frequently work independently with support from other hospital disciplines
Responsibilities include coordination for diet upgrades and interdisciplinary care planning
24 hours of orientation will be provided before assuming a full caseload
Light grey scrubs are required but not provided by the unit
First-time travelers are welcome; new graduates will not be considered
Ability to identify and report signs of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse in patients is required
Familiarity with functional maintenance programs and patient/family education expected
Requirements
Current state SLP license required and must be obtained before consideration (license required if applicable)
Minimum of 1 year recent SLP experience in acute care and adult outpatient settings
BLS and MBSImP certifications required
Competence with Modified Barium Swallow Studies, bedside swallow evaluation, compensatory strategies, oral motor skills, and diet modifications

A 50 mile radius rule applies to candidate eligibility
Candidates must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of signing the contract
