POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs all activities of the Department of Nuclear Medicine in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Hospital. Provides excellent customer support by demonstrating the Northwest values of Innovation, Compassion, Accountability and Teamwork. Peforms Nuclear Medicine (NM) procedures using prescribed technique; maintains proficiency on all related equipment. Communicates with various people within the Department and patients, as well as other customers throughout the organization. Performs a variety of support duties to assure smooth operations of the department. Performs all job duties with a focus on safety for the patient, self and co-workers. Follows universal protocol for patient identification and infectious diseases.
Demonstrates the appropriate level of knowledge in all areas of Nuclear Medicine to include injection of radiopharmaceuticals and other pharmacologic agents related to a procedure.
Uses knowledge of patient positioning and other pharmacolic agents related to a procedure.
Evaluates examination to assure technical quality.
Performs daily check of NM equipment to assure preparedness.
Utilizes HIS/RIS to assure proper ordering and completion of NM procedures.
Explains and answers questions concerning NM procedures.
Recognizes priorities and deals with them appropriately.
Process images according to established protocols.
REQUIREMENTS:
Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field
Graduate of a school of Nuclear Medicine
Less than one year of experience
Licensed by the State of MD
Certified by CNMT or ARRT(N) or registry eligible

Job Requirements:
A minimum of an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred in Nursing field, five (5) to seven (7) years of nursing experience with RN license from the District of Columbia required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Incumbent should be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form, possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability, strong customer service skills, and be knowledgeable of all Department of Health and Department of Social Services regulations. Must be proficient in the operation of computer applications, general office and medical equipment. Current CPR certification required. Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for functioning as the RN Nurse Manager in Assisted Living and Memory Support Assisted Living. Position also supports various nursing initiatives undertaken in the Skilled Nursing neighborhood to include collaborating with DON and ADON to design and implement clinical systems and processes; staff education; survey preparation activities; electronic systems migration and support; management of infection control/prevention activities in compliance with local and federal requirements; and other projects assigned by the Administrator. Additional duties include scheduling and providing medical services to employees and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisted Living & Memory Support Assisted Living
Conducts daily rounds to review safety, sanitation, and the environment of the Assisted Living and memory Support Assisted Living
* Conducts daily rounds to review safety, sanitation, and the environment of the Assisted Living and Memory Support Assisted Living
* Communicates with residents and families daily to ensure the community is meeting their needs to maintain physical health and mental well-being.
* Holds Stand Up meeting with last staff to discuss daily issues and orders for Admissions and regular residents as needed.
* Monitors nursing functions to ensure all needs of the residents are tended to. Focuses on nursing and non-nursing functions to maintain efficient operation.
* Attends all administrative meetings.
* Coordinates room turnover with family and Admissions coordinator. Contact maintenance coordinator to move, paint, clean, etc. the room within 24 hours of turnover.
* Forwards ancillary billing charges and resident rental equipment to Accounts Payable at the end of each month.
* Processes admissions include furniture movement, chart compliance, resident transition, room change, and family satisfaction.
* Conducts a resident and family care plan meeting twice a month to discuss resident's plan and level of care and to include staff, resident, and family members.
* Coordinates and contacts Hospice in the event of resident's health deterioration. Plans on transfers of residents to Hospice and notifies family immediately.
* Ensures all proper procedures are followed in the event of a resident's death; notifies family and staff as appropriate.
* Supervises the Wander Guard program for residents at risk of leaving the community.
* Works in conjunction with clinic to coordinate PPD screening and renewals. Ensure all residents and staff have been screened as appropriate.
* Completes UAI and mental health screening on all potential admissions.
Admissions Assessment
Assisted in transitioning to various levels of care including assessments for services, resident transition, and family guidance.
* Maintains contact with clinics to receive information on new residents moving into the community. Inform staff of new admission as need be.
* Works in conjunction with the clinic to provide new resident assessments (i.e., UAI) and meets with the family to discuss services to be provided.
* Completes mental health screening of new residents with the clinic to ensure completion upon move in day.
* Creates resident chart to include UAI and other pertinent information regarding resident physical and mental health.
* Coordinates move-in procedures with residents, family, and staff to ensure resident transition is as smooth as possible.
* Meets with family prior to moving in and within 24 hours following admission.
* Reviews quality assurance charts daily; follows up with any errors to ensure corrections were made in a timely manner.
* Meets with family and Care Plan team bi-weekly to discuss care plans and adjust accordingly. Revises UAI during care plan meeting.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Acts as a leader and manager of assigned positions; ensuring productivity, efficiency and accuracy in work performed.
* Ensures initial and on-going training is provided to employees as needed; ensures cross-training is completed as appropriate.
* Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior exhibited by employees and takes appropriate action; utilizes progressive discipline policy when appropriate and maintains documentation as required.
* Conducts annual performance evaluations of AL staff; sends copy of evaluation to Human Resources.
* Updates job Assisted Living Unit procedures on an as needed basis.
