Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech) Job Responsibilities:
Assists the physician in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.
Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them while producing the most desirable outcomes.
Participates in department/hospital performance improvement initiatives, in-services, meetings, and community programs.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of intravenous medications, heparin locks, and central line usage as they pertain to Mammography.
Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with culmination devices and protective shielding.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of radiography
License: Must be certified by ARRT as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain Mammography Certification within one year upon acceptance of the offer
Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association
Experience: Prior experience as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or Mammography Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment, preferred.

Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech) Job Responsibilities:
The Mammography Technologist administers sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies/procedures to ensure the safety of patients.
Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations.
Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines.
Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and team members.
Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards while acting as a resource to radiology students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions.
Per MQSA requirement, the mammography technologist must perform 200 exams every 24 months and if necessary, requalify with 25 directly supervised exams and 175 exams performed within six months.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Primary Duties:
Assistsphysicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive procedure arena, specializing in the care of patients undergoing: Basic and complex diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with known and suspected congenital andacquiredcardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Complex diagnostic procedures may include valvular, congenital defects, pulmonary involvement, radial, brachial and neck approaches,O.R (Operating Room),portable procedures, and any research protocols.
Basic and complex interventional, angiography, and electrophysiological procedures. Patient care procedures such as sheath removal including IABP, temporary pacer and central venous and arterial catheters. Safe and efficient operation of equipment. Cross-training is mandatory. Performs in the role of data entry, generating accurate reports from diagnostic or interventional procedures. Assist in the orientation of employees and students as requested by management.
Patient transportation,effectivecommunication,and evaluation of patient status during the procedure:age and gender specific care, prep access site according to lab standard practice, and perform EKG lead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring.Procedural requirements:room preparation and breakdown to include fluid preparation withaccuratecontrast concentrations, stocking rooms, daily quality control checks, radiographic, hemodynamic and computer setup. Prepare sterile procedure tray and patient sterile field appropriately.Observe occupational and radiation safety regulations (wearing badges, lead aprons, goggles, and gloves).Acquireand accurately document pertinent patient data.
Function in all roles rotating during the day as defined: Room circulator patient interaction, monitoring/vital signs and procedural documentation, setup equipment such as IABP, power injector, temporary pacer, biopsy, and sterile equipment/catheters/balloons/wires handoffs, running blood oximetry for cardiac output; assist physician with EP Diagnostic and Mapping systems including Carto. Qualifications:

1-2 years Recent Cath/IR Lab experience.

Primary Duties:
Adheres to MedStar Health Code of Conduct and its Compliance plan;complies withgovernmental and accreditation guidelines, completing all scheduled training including, but not limited to, safety, infection control, OSHA,CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation),EMR (Electronic Medical Record), general compliance,harassment,and service. Cleans,stocks,and sterilizes equipment in addition to cleaning and preparing patient rooms for care delivery. Delivers patient care consistent with policy and with high regard for patient/ employee safety and quality of care.
Embracesnewtechnologyand use of the electronic health record.Manages patient flow with consistent and frequent communication with patients/family and genuine regard for their time and comfort.Performs other testing and care consistent with the scope of the MedStar Health practices including, but not limited to, spirometry/ PFTs, patient vitals and BMI, EKGs, vision and hearing test,splinting,and general patient care under the supervision of the medical provider. Performs patient follow up calls for lab tests, patient experience, and clinical resultsinaccordance withpolicy and in a professional manner.
Performs venipuncture and selected patient and laboratory testing (point of care); initiates care pathwaysinaccordance withpolicy. Performs x-raysinaccordance withmedical provider orders; forwards images to theappropriate radiologistforoverreads;maintainsx-ray equipment and adheres to safety standards. Promotes an atmosphere of respect toward patients, families, vendors,employers,and co-workers.Communicates professionally.
Provides care consistent with MedStar's mission,vision,and values and in a manner that engenders patient confidence and loyalty by exceeding expectations. Serves as a patient escort throughout the care process andassistsinpatient discharge, assuring clarity for the patient or family member(s). Supports new clinical and service initiatives; seeks opportunities to improve care and the patient experience.
Supports other members of the team during downtime or bottlenecks in patient processing. Understands andparticipatesinbasic computer and patient intake skills at the front desk. Supports the medical provider in patient examination, testing and education. Under medical provider supervision, prepares and administers oral medications and injections limited to intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular afterdemonstratingcompetency to the Clinical Professional Development Specialist or designee.
Qualifications:
Associatedegree.
Completion of an approved R.T. program.
Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting.
2 years of medical office experience preferred.
ARRT(American Registry of Radiologic Technology) Certification.
Maryland, Virginia, or DC State License.
BLS(Basic Life Support).
