ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. The Metabolic Strength/Stretch Instructor at Green Lake Community Center will design and deliver a dynamic class that combines functional strength training with mobility and stretching techniques aimed at improving overall metabolic function, muscle tone, flexibility, and injury prevention. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fitness, capable of adapting exercises for a variety of skill levels, and committed to building a welcoming, supportive class environment.

Metabolic Strength/Stretch Instructor duties and responsibilities include:
Lead safe, effective, and engaging metabolic strength and stretching classes for adults of varying fitness levels.
Design class formats that integrate bodyweight strength training, resistance work, mobility, and stretching techniques.
Provide modifications and alternatives to ensure accessibility for participants with different abilities and experience levels.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating atmosphere in the classroom.
Maintain a clean and safe workout environment, ensuring proper setup and breakdown of equipment.
Monitor participant feedback and attendance; adjust instruction as needed.

Metabolic Strength/Stretch Instructor requirements include:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Certification in group fitness, personal training, or a related field (e.g., ACE, NASM, AFAA, ISSA, or equivalent).
Experience teaching fitness classes focused on strength, mobility, and flexibility.
Strong knowledge of exercise science, functional movement, and injury prevention.
Ability to adapt instruction for participants with a wide range of fitness abilities.
Pay:
* Starting Pay: $28.50 - 30.50/hr.
* Full Pay Range: $28.50-38.50/hr (employee may earn up to $38.50/hr with continued employment)

JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Lead Instructor of Technical Services to join our team in Seattle, Washington.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple trades including HVAC/R, electrical systems, and controls
Conduct training of technicians, and trains and supervise a small cadre of support instructors
Support the growth of technical training staff through mentorship, coaching, and performance development initiatives.
Help develop and execute technical training programs, ensuring alignment with evolving technologies, safety standards, and operational goals
Facilitate advanced support and oversight for BAS/EMS systems, including digital/analog I/O, system integration, and programming logic.
Assist with complex diagnostics, commissioning, and system optimization in the field as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in HVAC/R, electrical, and controls, including 5+ years in a leadership or director-level role.
Minimum 5 years of experience training technicians in technical skills related to their job requirements.
Deep knowledge of commercial HVACR systems, electrical distribution, and building automation platforms.
Proficiency in BAS/EMS systems, digital and analog I/O, and programming for HVAC and energy systems.
Must hold or have held a valid journeyman or trade license in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical (Washington State or transferable).
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and influence technical strategy.
Experience designing or overseeing technical training programs is highly desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work involves face-to-face instruction and is performed in a classroom which is adequately heated and ventilated, and in an on-campus outdoor environment, sometimes in rainy conditions. This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Lecture (theory) credits are compensated at $1,090 per credit, which includes scheduled class time and final exam days, in addition to a per credit stipend based on the high demand tier. All guided practice instructional credits for adjunct will be paid with an additional pay factor of 1.33. Future advancement in base salary, up to the current maximum of $1,640 per credit, is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.

* Teach introductory and upper-division courses in Technical Design in accordance with departmental policies and assigned class schedules (evening classes available)

The successful candidate(s) will have an FTE commensurate with the assigned workload. For context, one 5-credit course is equivalent to 33.33% FTE and one lab is 16.67% FTE. Responsibilities

As an Adjunct Professor in the School of Transportation, you will teach, develop materials and experiences, and manage a classroom and lab facility that provides students with the basic skills that are required to enter the automotive industry as a technician in a dealership, independent shop or fleet facility using the standards put forth by LWTech and the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation. The ideal candidate will be able to combine technical expertise with supportive and collaborative learning attitudes and behavioral modeling that is formative to our students' success. Managing lab facilities and budgets to sustain the program and working as part of a collaborative team with other faculty and staff are key components in this position. Compensation

Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B.
