    The Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, to start in August 2026. We are interested in candidates who will develop a research program in the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence and data science, including areas such as probability, statistical learning theory and theoretical aspects of AI and machine learning. A Ph.D. in Data Science, Mathematics Statistics, or a closely related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record and/or potential to establish and sustain a strong research program. The successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, highly visible, extramurally funded research program with outstanding scholarship, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to the various service endeavors in the Department, College, and University. The Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering is one of the seven departments in the College of Engineering and Science - Florida Tech's largest college and is committed to creating and maintaining a culture of excellence in teaching and research, with the goal of setting the stage for research-based and innovative pedagogies that foster student engagement, learning, and success.
