Major Duties and Responsibilities

Directing the activity program includes scheduling of activities, both individual and groups, implementing and/or delegating the implementation of recreational, educational, cultural and arts and crafts programs, monitoring the response, reviewing and evaluating the response to the programs to determine if the activities meet the assessed needs of the resident, and making revisions as necessary. The Director ensures that scheduled program activities are carried out seven days per week. The Director will ensure each resident is offered at least one (1) cognitive activity, two (2) recreational activities and three (3) ADL activities daily. Activities are to be tailored to the resident's unique requirements and skills. At least one individual activity is planned for residents who are unable or unwilling to participate in group activities daily. Oversees the transportation of residents to social activities programs inside and outside the facility.
The Activities Director is responsible for the assurance of resident safety during activities and items that are safety hazards are strictly controlled. Harmful items will be monitored closely during resident use and put away immediately after each use. Activity cabinets and closets are locked at all times when not in immediate use.
The Activities Director is responsible for overseeing the establishment of a Resident Council and responsible for its smooth operation and documentation such as meeting minutes and concerns expressed during the Council meetings.
The Activities Director is required to perform a variety of administrative functions pertaining to departmental operations, such as but not limited to, assisting with the orientation of newly hired staff; development of departmental policies and procedures; delegation of work assignments of staff; completion of employee performance evaluations and the development of formal and informal staff educational in-service programs to ensure the highest level of quality care possible is provided to residents.

What is an Occupancy Verification?
Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and to do this they send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is:
To verify property occupancy.
To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means that you would be responsible to complete all inspections in your county. In some cases, you will split the county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.
Responsibilities
Most common type of inspection should only take 5-6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Requires being able to spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements (to be considered you must have the following):
Computer with an internet connection
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas)
Smartphone (Android or iPhone)
Printer
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license
Pay and Hours
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30-$40 per hour.
Depending on a county and if it is urban or rural you will complete anywhere from 20-500 inspections per month working 2-30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month-to-month.
Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect or are willing to cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.

This internship will give you valuable experience in the field of wildlife/zoo medicine. The internship will provide extensive hands on experience working clinically with a variety of exotic and native species. Some of your training responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: field immobilizations, the daily upkeep and cleaning of the veterinary hospital, record keeping and filing, running fecal parasite checks, manual WBC counts and differentials, placing IV catheters and running IV fluids, blood collection using the vacutainer system, filling Rx's, following DVM /Tech orders, intubation, anesthesia, neonatal care, and wrapping packs and sterilization. You will be working closely with staff and volunteers and must be able to lift up to and sometimes more than 50 lbs. You may also work in varying degrees of hot or cold weather. A valid driver's license is required.
Stipend/Housing: A $400/month stipend (for expenses) and free onsite housing in a shared living environment is mandatory during your internship. If required, transportation to and from training area will be provided.
Selected person must provide proof of a negative TB test conducted within 30 days of arrival at Fossil Rim and proof of rabies vaccination (or adequate protective titer) within the year prior to starting the internship at Fossil Rim. This is will be at your own expense.
Please note: If you are selected, a background check will be done prior to your arrival. Fossil Rim is a drug-free workplace and a drug screen will take place the week prior to your internship.

The Rhino Intern is given the day-to-day responsibility of the Black Rhino herd.
Training will include (but is not limited to):
* Preparation and feeding of diets
* Cleaning and maintenance of the Black Rhino barn, yards and mechanical room
* Stocking of feed, hay, alfalfa and produce
* Completing daily reports for feed consumption, health notes and training schedules
* General monitoring of animals' health and welfare
* Behavioral observations as needed
* Reinforce trained behaviors with the black rhinos
* Specific veterinary procedures (fecal sample collection, assist with blood collection, ultrasound procedure, semen collection and administration of medications)
* Assist with other vet procedures
* Completion of independent project
Desired Experience, Capabilities and Educational Skills:
Undergraduate degree in wildlife management, conservation biology, or a related scientific discipline attained prior to start of internship. Previous internships strongly recommended. You must also have a valid driver's license.
Stipend/Housing: A $400/mo stipend (for expenses) and free onsite housing in a shared living environment is mandatory during your internship. If required, transportation to and from training area will be provided.
International students must have a J1 or B1 visa before arrival. Fossil Rim will not sponsor or assist with the visa process.
If selected, candidate must have a TB test conducted within 30 days prior to arrival for internship.

Full Time Hourly Guest Experience Tour Guide MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD Summary/Purpose of Position: The Guest Experience Tour Guide is crucial in shaping the first impression that visitors have of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. This senior tour guide position involves assisting guests with admissions and purchases at the Front Gate, ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Additional responsibilities for this role include training new team members and providing comprehensive education to guests about all aspects of Fossil Rim when leading Safari Tours and specialty tours.
Description of Position: The responsibilities of the Guest Experience Tour Guide include, but are not limited to the following:
* Provide excellent service both in-person and over the phone, demonstrating professionalism, helpfulness, product knowledge, and efficiency.
* Exhibit proficiency with Point of Sale systems, ensuring accurate processing of sales transactions.
* Adhere to established cash handling and cash control procedures.
* Stay informed about Fossil Rim products and pricing policies.
* Keep updated on special events, new animal information, attractions, and basic operations at Fossil Rim.
* Familiarize yourself with and enforce Fossil Rim's safety policies.
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in all admissions-related vehicles and areas.
* Operate tour vehicles for Safari Tours and specialty tours.
* Deliver informative tours to groups of up to twenty guests, providing specialized insights on Fossil Rim, the animals in its care, and its mission.
* Represent Fossil Rim with professionalism while providing exceptional service to guests.
* Perform opening and closing procedures for the Front Gate and admission areas.
* Assist in the training and ongoing development of new Guest Experience team members.
Experience and Qualities Required:
* Demonstrated ability to provide professional, friendly, and helpful customer service to guests and staff, with strong organizational and communication skills.
* Knowledge of environmental and conservation concepts, or a willingness to learn.
* Prior knowledge of natural sciences is preferred but not mandatory.
* Strong customer service skills, including a cheerful disposition, courtesy, patience, and perseverance.
* Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow instructions.
* Ability to answer guest questions accurately and deliver animal and park information effectively.
Work Requirements:
* A 40-hour week requiring some flexibility in shift times. Candidate must be available to work on weekends and holidays.
* Adherence to and understanding of Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, corporate procedures and policies, departmental mission and goals, and Fossil Rim mission, values and goals.
* Ability to stand for long periods of time
* Ability to lift up to 50lbs
* Ability to work outside for several hours at a time in weather ranging from extreme heat (100°F+) to extreme cold (±0°F) and in wet conditions. 21 years of age or older with a valid driver's license and a good driving record
