The Renewal Underwriter is integral to maintaining our high level of service and responsiveness on current accounts within Jencap's P&C Binding group. The Renewal Underwriter will work with agent, broker clients, and internal teams to underwrite profitable business consisting of renewal commercial P&C insurance within authority level.
The Renewal Underwriter will work on a hybrid schedule out of our Atlanta office.
Responsibilities:
Determine the acceptability, quality and profitability of existing business based on company underwriting guidelines and objectives within authority level.
Collect, maintain and analyze data in order to make informed underwriting decisions.
Manage assigned territory so that items such as renewals, endorsements, claim reviews and related transactions are completed accurately within accepted corporate time frames.
Treats all inquiries on a professional basis, providing timely, courteous and efficient customer service to agents, policyholders, team members and other departments
Make recommendations to Senior Underwriter or Supervisor on selected risks beyond assigned authority level.
Address assigned workload within quality, productivity and service standards as established by the company underwriting guidelines.
Meet regularly with the broker/underwriting teams on strategy and follow-up.
Special projects as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of work-related experience in P&C renewal underwriting process
Participate in company organized, prescribed or designated insurance seminars and workshops on or off premises.
Travel as needed.
The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded. Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and grow a book of business
Manage agency relationships and serve as lead client contact
Create and execute marketing plan to increase new and renewal business
Rate, quote and bind each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for large or complex renewals as well as new business

Compensation Package
Base compensation for the position ranges between $105,000 to $120,000 based on qualifications. The role will also be eligible for a sales incentive performance bonus.

Job Summary
Responsible for the marketing, development and management of producer distribution and new business and renewal underwriting for Ocean Cargo in an assigned territory.
Essential Job Functions:
Initiates and manages relationships with the Producers who fit Tokio Marine Guidelines.
Performs all marketing duties for respective Producers including, in-person visits to producers, and establishes production goals by Producer. Monitors the results of respective Producers and adjusts goals if necessary to ensure Production objectives are met.
Produce new business and renew existing portfolio in accordance with plan.
Achieve plan loss ratio by determining acceptability of risk based on underwriting guidelines and sound judgment.
Work within established work-flows to meet region time service goals.
Services designated book of business within company's underwriting guidelines.
Evaluates reviews and makes corrective actions on existing accounts, including midterm reviews as necessary.
Makes recommendations on risks which exceed their letter of authority using established referral procedures.
Controls new business, renewals, endorsements so that all related handling is processed timely and accurately. Gathering/evaluating information to determine acceptability of new accounts.
Issuing quotations, Issuing policies and endorsements
Issuing new business and cancellation/non-renewal notices
Ordering Loss Control surveys
Recommending and placing proper reinsurance (including facultative) when necessary and authorized
Promotes activities between the Marine Department, AEOs and producers to maximize renewals and new opportunities. Maintains good communications and relations with all AEOs, producers and clients.
Assist Corporate Reinsurance, Accounting and Claims on problems as they arise.
Assist in the training of other staff members.
Prioritize and delegate work to meet department deadlines. Reviews previously performed work for quality, as necessary.
Adheres to department goals and objectives.
Assist Accounting in the timely collection of overdue premiums, keeping 90 day overdue premiums at a minimum. Assist junior members of staff in the timely collection of overdue premium reports.
Reduce administration level within all areas of the department.
Create new business ideas and systems to achieve overall Department Business Plan.
Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.
Qualifications
College degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years of ocean cargo experience.

An Amwins Company Associate Underwriter: Description & Duties Underwriting Associates support our underwriting functions and staff, applying their understanding of risk evaluation and acting as ‘first line' of risk review by performing initial analysis of data and exposure. Format SOVs for Geocoding and SpatialKey import
Begin account summary process; OctoCapp/CapApp data entry as needed
Endorsements and Service Requests:
Assess and confirm specific actions with underwriter, acting within authority guidelines
Calculate APs and RPs. Hand-off to Risk Analysts to facilitate the processing of service requests
Deconstruct complex requests, ensuring full RA understanding of the request and approach to resolution
Seize all opportunities to train RAs on the thought process behind the UA work
Review and issuance of policy forms
Conduct weekly touch point with underwriters to review outstanding items
Collaborate with Underwriter Analysts for support on needed corrections, process bottlenecks, etc.

Join our Amwins Access team in Santa Clarita as an Associate Underwriter!
This is a full-time, in office position in our Santa Clarita office.
Pursuant to California regulation, the compensation for this position is $68,640 to $72,000 annually, and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
We are looking for people with:
* At least 1 year of prior insurance experience and/or related degree from an accredited four-year university
* Property and Casualty License or ability to earn a license within 90 days (cost reimbursed and study support provided by Amwins)
* Team focused mindset who is able to provide consistent, high-quality work
* Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, organization, professionalism and customer-service mentality
* Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Excel spreadsheets
Each Associate Underwriter provides vital team functions:
* Review submission information required to issue new or renewal quotes
* Rate and prepare new or renewal quotes as directed by Underwriter
* Review and handle inspection recommendations and discrepancies
* Monitor various reports for consistency
* Potential for policy issuance and endorsement processing, including audits
* Assist in accounting procedures such as invoicing
* Data entry into multiple internet based systems
