We are seeking a skilled and reliable HVAC Journeyman to join our commercial service and installation team in New York City. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with commercial HVAC systems, can troubleshoot independently, and understands NYC building environments, codes, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Install, service, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including:
Rooftop units (RTUs)
Split systems
VRF/VRV systems
Chillers, boilers, and air handlers (as applicable)
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on commercial equipment
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Ensure compliance with NYC building codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety standards
Complete service reports, work orders, and documentation accurately
Communicate effectively with supervisors, building managers, and other trades
Respond to emergency service calls as required
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience
Journeyman-level knowledge of HVAC systems and components
EPA Universal Certification (required)
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with NYC commercial buildings and jobsite conditions
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces, rooftops, and mechanical rooms
Preferred Qualifications
NYC Refrigeration License (Q-01, Q-99, or equivalent) or ability to obtain
Experience with building automation systems (BAS/DDC)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Union experience a plus (if applicable)

Summary
We will rely on your exceptional work ethic to be responsible for working on new construction projects and maintaining existing underground and overhead facilities.

Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Completed a Registered Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training) PLUS one year experience as a Journeyman Lineman**
Commercial Driver's License (Class “A”) with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application, and a clean driving record.
If applying with a CDL Permit, a valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained prior to the official transfer/start date.
If applying with an out-of-state CDL, a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.
Experience working on all types of distribution lines including 4kv to 21kv and all related equipment required
Must live within reasonable distance of headquarters (one (1) hour).
Must pass written and hands-on exam, and successfully demonstrate climbing skills.
Travel reimbursement may be available for out of state candidates.
Requires working with aerial equipment, which have weight restrictions of 300 pounds or less

This includes doors, windows, minor roof repairs, heating and ventilation units, refrigeration units including drinking fountains. All boiler room components such as circulating water pumps and air compressors.
* Performs minor repairs and adjustments to electrical system
* Repairs or replaces light fixtures, including ballasts and sockets, light switches, and duplex outlets
* Run new electrical services from existing power sources for modification of, or addition to existing school rooms, using conduit, BX cable or wire modeling as required.
* Fabricates and installs various metal parts, using various methods of assembling, such as conventional drilling and bolting and soldering.
* Repairs or replaces mechanical components as, panic bolts, door locks, door closures, ventilators, radiators, motor vents, draw curtain hardware, desk drawers and locks, file cabinet drawers and locks.
* Assists in minor repairs to motor vehicle equipment and maintenance and grounds equipment.
* Performs various carpentry tasks such as repairing wood floors, bleachers, furniture, benches, etc.
* Performs repairs and replacements of pipe fittings and plumbing faucets of our buildings and building equipment. This shall include the utility services, gas, oil, water and the secondary services of steam and water for heating, and compressed air, etc.
* Repairs and replacements of lavatory and shower room accessories
* Prepares surfaces for painting by scraping, caulking, cutting out plastic cracks, patching, and masking. Performs brush, roller and spray painting.
* Reglazes/caulking and reseals outside joints around windows and door frames within reason.
* Perform minor repairs to public address systems and intercom systems.
* Fabricates and installs forms and pours concrete for patching or new construction installations.
* Performs various constructions efforts in keeping with the availability of materials and equipment.
* Assists in snow removal, must know how to operate a plow.
* Must maintain balance on a ladder.
* Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines and policies.
* Communicate effectively withal members of the school district and community.
