We are seeking a skilled and reliable HVAC Journeyman to join our commercial service and installation team in New York City. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with commercial HVAC systems, can troubleshoot independently, and understands NYC building environments, codes, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Install, service, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including:
Rooftop units (RTUs)
Split systems
VRF/VRV systems
Chillers, boilers, and air handlers (as applicable)
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on commercial equipment
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Ensure compliance with NYC building codes, OSHA regulations, and company safety standards
Complete service reports, work orders, and documentation accurately
Communicate effectively with supervisors, building managers, and other trades
Respond to emergency service calls as required
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience
Journeyman-level knowledge of HVAC systems and components
EPA Universal Certification (required)
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with NYC commercial buildings and jobsite conditions
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces, rooftops, and mechanical rooms
Preferred Qualifications
NYC Refrigeration License (Q-01, Q-99, or equivalent) or ability to obtain
Experience with building automation systems (BAS/DDC)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Union experience a plus (if applicable)

Summary
Our Flagstaff Substation Maintenance crew has an immediate opening for a Substation Journeyman. The work hours for this position are Monday- Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM (AZ/MST). This posting has been designated by the Company as a "Hard-to-Fill" position and therefore is eligible for a one-time $10,000 signing/retention bonus under the terms and conditions of the executed LOMA dated 11/11/2025.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Must qualify as a Substation Journeyman
Completed a Registered Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training) PLUS one year experience as a Substation Journeyman**
Commercial Driver's License (Class “A”) with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application, and a clean driving record.
If applying with a CDL Permit, a valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained prior to the official transfer/start date.
If applying with an out-of-state CDL, a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.
Must live within reasonable distance (one (1) hour) from assigned Headquarters.
Subject to overtime and or/ out-of-town assignments
Qualifying tests (written and hands-on) will be administered. (Travel reimbursement may be available for out of state candidates.)
This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less.
Preferred Qualifications:
Considerable experience performing journeyman-level high voltage substation duties with an electric utility or other entity operating and maintaining high voltage substation equipment preferred
Experienced in writing and executing switching orders, and basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Job Responsibilities
As an experienced Craftsman/Handyman, you will be the face of Ace Handyman Services. You will perform a wide range of repairs, maintenance, and small improvement projects, ensuring excellent communication and a high standard of finish on every job.
Typical projects include:
Carpentry: Rough and finish carpentry (e.g., framing, installing trim, baseboards, crown molding, cabinet installation, deck repair).
Drywall: Repair, patching, texturing, and finishing.
Painting: Interior and exterior painting and staining.
Plumbing: Minor repairs (e.g., replacing faucets, toilets, fixing leaks).
Electrical: Minor repairs and fixture installation (e.g., swapping out lights, installing ceiling fans).
Tile Work: Installation and repair of ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles.
General Maintenance: Door/window installation and repair, fence repair, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, etc.
Projects can be small in nature, eg. 2 to 8 hours, or multi-day demo, install, finishing upgrades for bathrooms/kitchens.
Job Requirements (Must Have):
Proven Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of paid, professional experience across a wide range of home repair and remodeling skills, including estimating project labor and other needs.
Tool Ownership: Must own a comprehensive set of trade-specific tools.
Valid Driver's License and Reliable Transportation: Ability to get to and from job sites across our North Jersey service area (primarily Bergen, Essex, Morris, Passaic counties).
Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication skills, a professional appearance, and a friendly, service-oriented attitude.
Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage a schedule, keep detailed records, and arrive on time.
Software Usage Skills: Ability to learn and effectively us a Field Service Management System
Background Check: Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screening.
