Select and apply appropriate geophysical prospecting equipment to accurately designate non-complex underground utility layouts; Perform all S.U.E. Technician II functions: Operate vacuum trucks, related air tools and equipment such as a jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor, vacuum hose, air lance and hand tools; Perform vacuum excavation tasks and supporting overall crew activities; Set up maintenance of traffic as directed and perform basic field measurements; Maintains vehicles, work sites, and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion. Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting operating problems on vacuum systems; May on occasion supervise S.U.E. Tech I associates on specific daily assignments. Qualifications Experience in field data acquisition is required. Survey background a plus. High School diploma or GED required. Knowledge of basic math. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Ability to perform physical movements and tractions, commensurate with operating heavy tools and equipment. Basic understanding of conductive and non-conductive utility designating and the application of related equipment. Minimum 1+ year experience as a SUE Tech I of in the successful application of geophysical equipment in utility locating such as for a contract utility locating firm or major utility company. Ability to work in all climates. Basic understanding of Highway/Utility plans is a plus, but not required. Ability to travel if needed. OSHA Safety certifications are a plus. DOT physical drive card and DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain. The principal responsibility is to install cable pathway systems with various cables that include but are not limited to, twisted pair cable, coax, single mode fiber optic cable and multi-mode fiber optic cable. Cable Installation includes placement, termination, testing, labeling and documentation. Essential Functions Install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone and other cables. Interface with customer contacts on project and work orders. Ability to work from heights such as bucket trucks, scissor lifts, and roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
