Responsibilities
The RegisteredNurse utilizes the nursing process in providing nursing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other health care providers.
The RN is accountable for his/her own professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law.
Utilizing organizational resources, the RN acts as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities.
The delivery of nursing care within the Kettering Health Network reflects the missions, vision, values, and philosophies, of the organization and nursing departments
Qualifications
Applicants Must Have:
Licensed in the state of Ohio as a RegisteredNurse
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN, ACEN, or CCNE) if they are a new graduate nurse.
Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred (must be completed within 5 years of hire).
A nurse who is returning to the acute care setting after five or more years may be required to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course.
BLS certification
ACLS, NRP, PALS as determined by unit scope of practice

As a RN you will have the opportunity to provide one on one patient care and work at the top of your license. You will utilize your clinical skills in providing end of life care as directed by an attending physician. HOW YOU'LL WORK:
You'll oversee the overall care of the patient from beginning to end of life. You will observe and monitor the patient to determine if the level of care being provided meets the patients' needs. You will work autonomously and be responsible for all practices and duties within the scope of practice outlined by the state.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Plan of Care:
Evaluate the treatment and medical condition of the patient according to the plan of care. Individualize the plan of care and make adjustments as needs change.
Minimize Patient Risk:
Update all doctor orders in patient chart and administer medication as prescribed by the physician.
Continuity of Care:
Manage multi-disciplinary care as applicable while promoting continuity of care with appropriate admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Family Educator/Advocate:
Counsel patient and family on the disease/progression and incorporate patient and family in development of plan of care. Listen to patient and family members.
Policies:
Completes all clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
Operations:
Oversee and supervise total care of patient provided by nurse aides and LPNs. Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.
HARD & SOFT SKILLS:
Compassionate communicator with a positive attitude.
Patience is a virtue when working with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.
Attention to detail is critical, as is being observant and following directions.
REQUIREMENTS:
RegisteredNurse with current license in the state of employment.
Minimum one-year experience as an RN in an acute care setting is preferred.
Hospice experience is desired.
Valid driver's license and auto insurance in your name as a driver
Capable of all physical demands

Responsibilities of the role include serving as an educator, career coach, mentor and leader within the organization.
The NPDS assists, facilitates and guides the development of nursing employees beginning with initial orientation and continuing throughout the employment of the individual.
The NPDS serves as a resource to leadership for the implementation of education programs, evidenced based practice and outcomes evaluation.
The Nursing Professional Development Specialist systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing professional development practice.

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist reports to a Nurse Manager or a Nursing Director.
Educational Requirements:
